New Fallout 4 player with i7/1080/4k HDR: good guide for best mods/graphics?
I have never played (ashamed to say) ANY fallout games. Tried the trial on XBOX One X and was hooked after 90 minutes. I see the PC version is going to be 40% off (GOTY).

I see there are SO many mods, youtube videos etc.

Is there a good guide for "you have a kick ass i7/1080, do these enhancements"?

Saw this video on youtube and recommended these:

Anyway hoping someone had a concise list. MOst of these can't be done through steam workshop right?

A 1080 will have trouble with 4k in fallout 4.

Guess I could do reverse DSR and do 2880 or something. I find at 2880 (scaled to 4K) looks great. Would love to stay at 60.

So vivid all in one?

Honestly with Fallout 4, your GPU is never the problem since so much rendering is done by the CPU. Throw in mods and it gets worse. i have a fair amount of mods (200 esps + textures) and my 1080 never sees above 60% at 1440p (EVGA FTW Hybrid ;) ) however the game doesn't properly use my 6700k so the game struggles a fair bit from time to time. I dare not run it at 4k.

I can vouch for this, I use 1440p instead with a mix of high/ultra settings at mostly 60fps.

On ryzen 7 which is much more powerful than your processor I can do 4k and game utilizes it better

Higher resolutions reduce load on cpu.

WIth higher resolutions your more GPU bound whereas at lower resolutions you are more CPU bound.
Core I7 5820K (hexacore with hyperthreading) overclocked to 4.5GHz
4K: 20% CPU, 100% GPU at 2100MHz
1440p: 24% CPU, 60% GPU at 17-1800MHz
At 1080p the CPU load is the same as 1440p but I never noted the GPU usage but I believe is less than 1440p.

What trouble? Where did you see this bs from? No jokes

I'm on a I7-7700k/MSI 1080/ Z type motherboard 60fps is smooth at 4k. Its Witcher 3 were I still can't get a steady 60fps. Going to have to wait for next gen to come out. for smooth 4k on that game.

Spending a couple hundred on a 30% gain 1080ti is not worth it.
I7 5820K @4.5GHz / Asus X99 mobo / 16GB DDR4 Quad channel kit @2666MHz / Gigabyte GTX 1080 @2100MHz.
Settings are high/ultra with AA maxed, godrays and shadow distance at medium, shadow quality and weapon debris on high.
At 1440p I get solid 60fps except in boston where it can drop to early 50's.
At 4K I get early 50's fps and drops to 30's in boston.
So I see your "bs" on my screen.
