can't use "your special" book to raise endurance

how is this a thing? I have had previous runs where i planned to max out a stat via book and bobblehead. but the book only shows 6 options.

is the book no longer able to raise a high stat? i mean i can fix this by restarting again and bumping another stat lower to compensate, but this is annoying.

Do you have any gear on that raises the endurance stat, fortifying is one. There is another. Also some food/chems can do the same.

Check your equipped items. If you are wearing an item that raises the stat to 10 or above, the book recognizes that the stat is at its "modified" number, not its base number. Stupid I know. But that's something to consider. Also worth noting that its a waste to retrieve any bobbleheads before the stat it boosts', is at ten. Making 11 the max stat, without mods.

Yes even fresh from the vault you can get stat increasing items. I've done this numerous times. Except my issue was with Perception. I always forget that I put on the glasses that are on the overseers desk. They give a +1 or +2 to Perception.

Try removing ALL items. Put them in a chest (temporarily) and make sure your stats are where you put them in character creation. And as stated above, make sure you aren't under the influence of any chems, good or bad. You can acquire those before you leave the vault as well.

I don't suggest giving up and using console commands to increase the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats. That could foul things up down the road.

no chems no equipment, and nothing giving any stat, endurance or otherwise. i literaly bee lined to the book after working with codsworth to kill bugs in santuary. but its solveable by restarting at the lift from the vault and using the book elsewhere.
