Safest place to store items early game?
I just finished the killing Kellogg mission. Idk where to store my items. Diamond city power armour workshop seems like a good idea?

I would say that Settlement workshops and containers made from those workshops would be safest, junk items in the Workshop itself would be broken down to scrap components to make other items as required.

If you use mods, this here is really fine
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/29070

First really safe place no raider or settler will touch is homeplate i guess.

Or wait, the vanilla shelter in Sanctuary should be 100% safe

I gave cothworth 30 000 carry capacity and have this way my items nearly allways with me.
Because Bethesda was not able to implement a caravan that follows the player.

the gas station right at the beginning or the carport right across the street from your old house are the best options for early game. If i'm not planning on doing the minutemen stuff I just take over the red rocket right there and that becomes my base, building it up over time into a fortress. sometimes i'll strip my old neighborhood and lug it over to the gas station first thing i do after coming out of the vault.

Dump everything into any workshop except legendaries. Put those in an armor mannequin along with any gear you don't want settlers taking. You can sort it all out later when you want to use it.

Couple things to be aware of;
-You can create protected storage from your settlers if you put it behind a switched door.
-Settlers will eat your food, drink your drinks and take weapons from any unprotected storage in your settlements. They will also take weapons from weapon racks, but won't take them from armor mannequins.
-All crafting stations' "storage" in a settlement actually link to the workshop and are all a single container.
-creating trade routes will connect workshops for crafting purposes only. If you need something specific you'll have to go get it.

Keep these in mind and you won't have any problems. You shouldn't need to do much beyond this unless you get heavy into settlement building or manufacturing. But that's a much more in-depth subject.

Use red rocket station as your own person storing ground, don't use a settler beacon there and safely place your items in any containers on the settlement plot.

Every container everywhere in this game resets periodically, other than those in claimed settlements.

If you're all the way up to Kellogg, you can buy the house in Diamond City, and that's nowhere near "early in the game".

There's also the root cellar in Sanctuary, but I wouldn't trust the containers. Just drop crap on the floor.

learn something new every day... never knew it was there

Explore, for God's sake. Don't follow the road. Wander. It's open-world. Take advantage of it.

Of course Vault 111 is also safe storage, but I still wouldn't trust the containers.

It's pretty well hidden imo. Just enough bushes over it so it's easily missed. I only found it cause I happened to notice the wire and followed it to the door.

I explore alot, for some reason i just never happened to be in the back of that particular house. I explore, I don't methodically search every building... that would get tedious, fast. The upside is that it's not uncommon to stumble upon something new with each new character i play.

to me the first neighborhood you lived at prewar, I put floor safe below the work bench for things I want to keep or break latter when I get more the scrapper perk, then a locker for any armor I want to keep for myself or my gurds for my settlements near the armor work bench, everything else into the settlment storage...
