Why no trenchcoat over other clothings
I was just wondering... Why can't you where a trenchcoat over a vaultsuit or other regular clothing when when you can wear armor? Why not make it either/or for tranchcoat and armor?

My present Char. Is going for the stealthy lightweight look so I think the trenchcoat would be nice, but the pants look crap :)

Because it's 2018. Why put in work in a feature which you would have back in 1999, when you could not do it and still get $? :D
But being serious, yeah it;s fucing ridiculous for a game that call's itself an RPG and costs 60 for full experience. For that price the game feels 45-55% done only...

Learn to use outfit studio. It's a fantastic tool which allows you to combine as many outfits as you want.

why can't I wear hats over my power armor helmet? Or clothes over my pa for that matter?

Ok, ok, ok... Lets not get dramatic already. They didn't even have NPCs even close to the way they do things much less look like in Oblivion or FO3 by any game developer in 1999. Back then they were still AI's looking less detailed as fixed models. Like starwars Dark Forces 2 and Delta force games....

Yes,yes. The graphics are new! How otherwise would they be able to sell this for the price they are asking??? and even then the graphics do not exceed the standards, just match them.

I was talking about gameplay/world interactions etc.

As far as I can remember, if you damage a car a lot in GTA 2 it would explode. just like in fallout :O
But only the car, the explosion would not damage anything around, because it is 1999. Thank god Fallou...I mean Battlefield 1 can do that.

I really have no idea in which game you could put a trenchcoat on top of other clothes, but you clearly missed the point if that's what you got from me.

I also remember GTA San Andreas 2004 - If you earn enough respect, you can recruit more homies. After certain parts of the game you can unlock/use certain items. OMG JUST LIKE FALLOUT! THE FUTURE IS TODAY OLD MAN! :D

No I understand what your saying about the trench coat thing. Don't get me wrong, I am just saying there is a big difference between game design back in 1999 and now. Can't compare it like this. But I do understand what your saying. That is like this keyboard config they do. It is 2018, and they still push the old DOS layout of WASD keys for movement. I hate having to chase down the key board to do simple functions. I hate having to switch out between mouse arrow keys to WASD keys for settlement building.

So really I see you point about the trench coats. After all, you can wear the combat armor peices over your road leathers, why not a trench coat too. As if they couldn't make one trench coat for this simple function...

I agree with you, probably that's why I choose to critize fallout so much. Such simple things that would only require couple hours of work probably are not there, and this pattern feels everywhere you look in F4 :(

Quite honestly, after realising what kind of product bethesda sold us, I was really surprised we were able to put. A hat, sunglasses and bandana on the same head! 1 Head - 3 items! Game Developing companies hate them! I hope the devs just took enough holiday afterwards.
ok i think it's time to go to bed for me. xD

Just thought it would be nice to go for the femme fatale agent look with bare legs, black trenchcoat and a black hat for the stealthy kind... Think it would fit the 50s futuristic atmosphere of fallout pretty well.

As someone else pointed out, you can add armor Pieces over a vaultsuit or jeans and t-shirt, so why not make a trenchcoat work as a full body armour which occupies all armour positions minus head? Could there be a mod for this?

Basically because the game treats clothing as two separate categories: armor and underwear, and underwear contains and controls the slots you need in order to equip armor over it, unless, of course, you decide to wear armor with no underwear at all.

There are mods that remove this limitation, though.

Why do we have onesies for armor with boots and gloves in Skyrim, instead of having slots to wear each boot, glove and pauldron seperately, with the ability to wear clothes under armor that would show through in gaps, skirts/kilts over top of pants/greaves, pauldrons, boots and gloves being wearable with robes, etc... like in Morrowind?

Thanks... That looks like it could be what I'm looking for.
Will also look into outfit studio.
