No you can''t. The items will disappear when the Goodneighbor cells reset.

You must use settlement workshop or work stations for permanent storage.

Thanx.

You're welcome.

are you sure these reset? I started storing junk in cooking stations, armor stations, weapon making stations because these never have anything in them, which i believe means they do not reset. Whenever i have gone back to any of these areas, even after hundreds of hours, the stuff is still there. Especially the cook stations.

I don't recall a single workstation ever resetting on me. I've left things in cooking stations scattered everywhere. Still found that stuff after days of pretty much forgetting about it. I think the only problem with that is I tend to forget where I leave these stashes. I always play survival mode.

I use the weapons/armor benches in FH dock to store stuff to move between FH and The Commonwealth. Never had an item missing or a reset, ever.

Wrong.

All workbenches in the game are immune to cell reset. They are one of the best handy storage areas especially on survival.

that has been my experience too. So there are three of us with the same game experience. Which means it is probably true: cooking stations and work benches are safe to store stuff because they don't respawn. Since they are all over the place, you don't have to worry about losing that loot while you go about more important business.

About a year ago someone posted wokrbenches were immune to cell resets. I tried it out and they were right.

Ever since I use them all the time. Just like MageThis said, I do the same thign with Far Harbor I store all my ♥♥♥♥ in the power armor station until I get a settlement. I did the same exact thing with Nukaworld at Fizztop Grille.

I have even done it in Goodneighbor muiltple times because there is no decent settlements nearby except Hangman's Alley. I even done it at Bunker Hill with the scavenger house by the ship.

I might not trust inside cell locations though, although i wouldnt store anythign in them because who the hell wants an extra loading screen just to store ♥♥♥♥.

In addition to being immune to reset, work stations also can't be looted by NPCs which makes them perfectly safe container to store your items.

Okey dokey, that's a relief. This confirms that I'm not a perfect person and do make mistakes. I made a bad assumption based on previous titles where, there was no safe storage outside of your home. I've never stored anything outside of a settlement in FO4.

That makes two wrong posts I made this morning. Must be why it's almost always good when more than one player posts on a thread.

OP, my apologies to you.

From my experience the npcs will loot the workstation if it has a better weapon with matching ammo inside. This is why I never put weapons in workbenches I have ammo stashed in. I always seperate the two. I also stopped putting food in my settlement workshop inventory because it effects the attack rate on the settlement. I only keep scrap and ammo in settlement workshop inventory. Everything else is seperated into different containers.

This has also been my approach. I tend to place a storage box in every location and stash my ammo and nades in that, seperate from my other stuff in the workbench.

And I have never experienced an NPC raiding a footlocker or storage box...

If they are in a fight, the storage container is close enough for them to nav to, and the weapon is more superior to the one they currently have [assuming you haven't assigned a weapon to the settler], then they will go for it whether it's a container or workshop as long as both the ammo and weapon are inside. Even had a situation where a settler grabbed fusion cores [several] from a container before using them on a power armor rig nearby. That was both amazing and pretty annoying and I only seen the AI ever do that once in my 3300 hours of play. That was back when I was quite the newb and placed a container of fusion cores next to the PA rig . This might also have been patched out hence why I have not seen that behavior in a long time.
