Texture and environment mods not working
So about a year ago i uninstalled Fallout 4 because i had modded it beyond repair. Recently i decided to install it again (this time on another drive since the drive i had previously had it installed on was full) and begin modding again from a clean slate. I wanted to start modding the environment so i had a good looking game.

However, many of the mods i downloaded had no effect in game at all. And the majority of them were mods i had installed without problem when i last had modded this game. Some mods worked, like clean water of the commonwealth and dead body collision. But when it comes to other texture or weather mods such as vivid fallout or true storms, nothing happens, although they seem correctly installed. I have changed all the .ini docs, both fallout4Prefs and Fallout4custom as they should be, so unless i'm missing something that should not be the problem.

It seems only to be mods that has to do with the environment that doesn't work. Grass mods (that add grass not only retexture), lighting mods, weather mods, retexture mods and other flora overhauls have no effect in game.

I would very much appreciate help :)

Ran into an issue with any Mesh or texture mod not loading and I ended up having to reinstall the game outside of the Program files directory to get it to work. Something to do with Windows 10 security on the program files folder not letting the mods install right even with admin rights.

Never USE standard folders for steam and games or UAC will break games and modding fucntions
install on seperate harddisk or like C:\Games\Steam both will work

I don't have it installed in the program files directory, and i don't think i did last time either. I did read somewhere that it might be because of conflicting ini files existing somewhere as a result of having it installed on another drive than last installation. I tried looking in to this, but have not managed to solve it as of yet. I have windows 7. Thx for input

Hmm, i'm a bit of a novice when it comes to these kinds of stuff so i dont fully understand what you mean. I have it installed on my f drive under steamapps/common/fallout4 (yes i know my drives are way to full in general, but that's another matter) and last time i had it installed on the d drive in the same place (steam apps) and it worked 100% fine then. For example vivid fallout was installed without problems back then.

Ok, so an update in case people have the same problem:

I managed to get it to work finally and it seem to have had something to do with conflicting files or something as a result of having it installed on another drive than my original installation was.

What i personaly had to do to fix this was simply to make another clean install, this time on the D drive again where it had been the previous installation. This fixed it for me but i don't know what you would have to do if you want to keep it on another drive.

It's not the drive it's the path. You can install it on the same drive with your windows or anything but make sure the path is not inside the windows program files folder or anything related to windows.

Like i said i'm not a professional when it comes to these things but i dont think it was the path in my case atleast, since it was in the same exact path only on different drives. (SteamLibrary/steamApps/common/fallout4) On one drive it worked and on another it didnt. My guess is that it has to do with where my nexus mod manager is installed or a conflict with the ini settings.

Anyways it works now, thx :)
