Why does Danse dislike it when I tell Billy that he's on his own?
Isn't Danse supposed to think of ghouls as abominations? Am I missing a piece of lore?

I don't think it's an oversight because there's a reaction line from him if I do it. Can anyone explain it?

Maxson's Brotherhood doesn't overall ((HATE)) regular ghouls. At least not on the same level that Lyon's did. They just look at ghouls as Living time-bombs for going feral, Which in their situation I don't fully blame them for.

It's also just Bethesda's crappy companion affinity system at work.

Maybe he disapproves of you being a ♥♥♥♥ to children, regardless of whether the child in question is human or not.

Or, more likely, because this is a Bethesda game.

Because BGS can't make consistent characters to save their lives. That's all. There had to be a random binary 'like/dislike' choice here and the 'bad' choice is not being a selfless moron so *of course* Danse has to dislike it - because the *writer* is telling *you* its bad. Well, that particular writer. Someone writing other parts of Danse will have a different idea and that's how you get these inconsistencies.

Game's a good open-world shooter but don't pay attention to the RPG parts of it. They suck.

speaking of love and hate, if you get top affinity and romance with cait, heather, piper and curie and then take a 1 hour "nap" with all near by, you WILL get up from that "nap" with a smile on your face.

Lyon's brotherhood didn't hate sentient ghouls more than Maxson's brotherhood.
They have always been more acceptabling of sentient ghouls and in fact Maxson is stricter than Lyon by a long shot.

Maxson's brotherhood might be more accepting than the pre Lyons brotherhood but saying that Maxson is kinder to sentient ghouls is speculation at best.

It might be wropng because the last time I played fallout 3 to full achievement completion was back when I was still in high school but I don't remember Lyons even hating sentient Ghouls.

There is ghoul, and there is feral ghoul, no such thing as sentient ghoul, because they are not dead objects.

That doesn't make sense at all and it's flat out wrong.
Sentient means they can feel and think and a non-sentient ghoul is another way of saying a feral ghoul.

The tales told by the Ghouls of underworld say otherwise. You don't find any stories from regular ghouls in the commonwealth about Maxson's BOS harming them other than maybe a mean look and a cold shoulder. Unlike Lyon's, Whose BOS members would actually open fire on Regular ghouls in Un-provoked warning shots. But as they put it, "At least they have the common courtasy to miss most of the time".

Maxson's Brotherhood is Stricter than Lyon's in some regards, And more Leniant in others. But they don't go hunting down or opening fire on any regular ghoul they come across.

Ferals are "Sentient" in some ways too tho. Or at least, they can feel things like pain and Fear.

Evidence in this is the Testimony given by the Private during the BOS supply mission, where You're tasked with tracking down missing supplies. The Private states that when the BOS landed at the Airfield and opened fire on the Ferals, At some point the Majority of ferals began to flee and try to escape. Which indicates they do have some form of rationality. Not to mention Glowing ones are capable of cordinating hordes of Ferals and Using their radiation powers to heal their own kind.

Ghouls aren't completely brain dead. They still think and feel, It's just that their brain has De-Volved back to a Primal State where Fight or Flight and the Endless Drive to survive has taken over.

Did they state that is was lyon's brotherhood as they could it of been the outcasts?

I don't think Lyon's himself pushed that agenda and was more an on a individual basis than due Lyon's doctrine.

They don't state its the Outcasts, But considering the proximity of Underworld to the Washington Monument, where a Lyons BOS outpost is located, Not to mention the active BOS warzone right outside Underworld, It's safe to assume it wasn't the outcasts.

And no, It likely wasn't directly Ordered by Lyons. But if he knew about it,And didn't put a stop to the practise, than it means he agreed with it, Or wasn't bothered too heavily by it.

I don't think all ferals are sentient in the way I meant it in and yes in a sense most things are sentient to an extent.

Ferals are mostly run by instincts and pain is a sensation not an emotion.
Fear more of an instinct as well more than a feeling especially when compared to something like feeling bad for being immoral.

It took me awhile but yes I do recall the I think female ghoul saying they'd take warning shots against them which does count against Lyon's brotherhood.

That said fallout 3 is much more Ghoul heavy in focus and has very little to do with synths in contrast to fallout 4.
In fallout 3 lyons and his brotherhood had been there for a much longer and had a mission to protect the locals and rebuild which is massively different to Maxson's who would come in to contact with Ghouls less.

I guess my summary would be that due to fallout 4 focusing less of ghouls, the specific mission of Maxson and the time frame that Maxsons brotherhood had been operating there, has left us with more an unknown on how Maxson brotherhood would actually treat sentient ghouls.
