Freedom Radio?
You must power up freedom radio to complete the taking the castle quest. Then the radio will keep giving out radiant quests even after the end of time. I have seen conflicting advice about the quests. (Also, I am using We Are The Minuteman mod).

If you never go near the castle and never listen to the radio does the game still 'force' the quests on you? If I look at my settlements tab or my quests tab will I still see the quest that the radio has broadcast even though I never actually heard it? Or, if I never listen to the radio, it will be like they never happened?

If you turn off the speakers, will they stay off or will they reset to on every time you come back to the castle?

Can you disconnect the power to the radio without breaking the game?

Also - while you are here - Will the defending the castle quest require a large population at the castle? (have never got that far into the game)

Keep the radio powered, but you can turn off speakers. If you do not listen the radio, then you do not get quests from it. Speakers have always stayed silent for me, if I have shut them down.

However, visiting settlemetns can still prompt quest for you as before. They might be simple "clear this area" missions, but sometimes they can be "Clear the Way" missions, where you will have to open another settlement from potential targets.

If you don't want quests from it, just turn off the speakers after its powered up. They will stay turned off and you will not recieve quests just by fixing it. I would not remove power from it though.

I dont remember what happens for Defend the Castle.

Ninja'd Also, Ilja is correct about settlement missions.

I did find out something useful about the "clear the way" missions. The settlers that show up can be relocated to another settlement. Then store all crops/water in the worbench, leave the turrets, and then can ignore that settlement forever.

Enemies will not attack, if no one is there. You can skip turrets, unless you want to use it as additional shelter.

I am doing the same for Jamaica Plains, if it gets prompted before Hangman's Alley is running in full strenght.

You need to build the turret(s) to complete the quest. You could store them also but might as well leave them active. I store the crops/water just to be double sure that the settlement does not attract attention.

Yes, you are right. I meant that turrets do not need to remain. True.
