It wasn't meant as a negative post. Looks like a was just in the mood to give a weird comment. Sorry, if someone read that wrong. :)
None of the female options are "hot" in the vanilla game. Vanilla Piper is somewhere on the cute spectrum, I guess. The others—Cait is a junkie, Curie is a forgettable Plain Jane, and the only thing Magnolia has going for her is Lynda Carter's voice.
The males are a parade of ugly too, but I don't see this disparity you speak of. Bethesda's vanilla characters have almost never looked good. On the other hand, I think the companion personalities and side quests in Fallout 4 are some of Bethesda's best character development efforts to date, for females and males alike.
Romance wise.. I like Mac and Cait. Piper is ok.. when she shuts up. Curie is cute.. but is just terrible in a fight (and she doesn't want to fight anyway). Dense is fun. But it's too bad his romance is tied to the main quest (meaning you have to go far into to get to the end). Yes you can get your affinity way up with Dense (just get in and out of power armor or modify it with him as a companion) and you can have him as a mate.. but the real end happens after you are inside the Institute and discover a few things.
One of the things I hate about this game.. you are forced to do certain things. You must start the main quest, save Nick and kill Kellog for the BOS too arrive; you have to run a few quests with the RR (even if you intend to kill them later) to get the weave. Now the weave is modded already.. but still.
In Skyrim, you could ignore the dragons and the main quest completely. In fact, there a mod that turns off the main quest in Skyrim. I don't know what was on Beth's mind in this game.
But back to romance... I'd be careful with romance mods for Danse. Nick, and Deacon - since all three are tied to quests that you must complete.
That's what a story is—a sequence of events connected in some way. I'm not even sure what your criticism is here. The fact that there's some semblance of causality in the game? The fact that you have to meet people and do things to get stuff?
I guess Bethesda was thinking we experience time in a linear fashion, and the macro-scale universe seems fairly rooted in cause and effect. How silly of them, right?
As for romance, it seems to be more a matter of opinion, but on the male side of things I've heard people directing more love towards Danse and Hancock than the other two. The female side I've heard more balanced opinions about, though Piper seems to be slightly more popular. It's not like I've taken a poll, though; it's just my impression from hearing people talk about them
Or, you know, you could just bang them all.
none of em female companions is "hot". so i mod every of their looks.
That's unlike Fallout 4, where you have a very specific character identity tied into the main story, and progressing assumes you're involved for very specific personal reasons related to your predesigned backstory.
Piper - Annoying As FU K K
Cait - Ugly Crackwhoore
Curie - A toddler in an adult's body. GO TO JAIL
Magnolia - She's like 700,000yrs old.
