Help With F4SE and Saves
So, I'm thinking of palying Fallout 4 today, but prior to that I decided I didnt want 2 mods in my load order anymore (aSexMod & CBBE).
So I uninstalled them and opened up Fallout 4.
But when the save was done loading it just crashes.
The Same thing happens when I load a save from Fallout 4 being launched through F4SE, (keep in mind everything is up to date).

Any Help Is Very Much Appreciated, and paid for in caps.

Even though bman has proved to be unreliable, he has a point here: as a rule, you just can't remove mods unless you use a save from before you've installed those mods.

This is probably the only time in months bman posted something thats not complete BS. You can't remove most mods mid-game.

To clarify what is going on.

Game bakes script data to save files. Removing the mod does not remove the script residue. Save cleaning tools and methods can halt scripts, but there is no such thing as clean save.

Even if scripts were halted or cleared from game world, data will still remain baked to your save file. Game does not make any difference between official files and mods. As you might have noticed, they are using same format.

As far as game knows, removing scripted mod - or mod making direct world edits - from ongoing game is same as someone pulled a bunch of files from official files.

Mods add items forms scripts etc. that become part of the save when you unistall a mod it removes the needed files these try to use when loading the save game causing issues.

If possible see if the mod page had instructions for how to properly remove them from an existing game in some cases they include a way to uninstall what they placed in the game so you can safely save exit and uninstall the mod.

In some cases however a mod may be so intrusive into the save there is no way that they can do this.

That is why it is best not to remove a mod midgame.

Unless the mods you removed added something in the f4se plugins directory that it did not remove upon uninstallation f4se should still function as it always did.

I do recall having to do this kind of manual removal of a plugin file with one mod I uninstalled a while back when it became outdated and no longer worked. It was a very old mod the author never updated to the new version several updates back.

If you're talking about F4SE claiming it's still the old version, Keep in mind you need to run the uninstaller BEFORE updating F4SE.

Or just use the archive version. Delete the files that have the same name in the archive (plus the dll for your old game version) and copy over the new. Done.
