Alien Blaster from Fallout 3 vs FO4 Alien Blaster
Was just wondering why the alien blaster in FO3 was so powerful you could kill a deathclaw with it in just a few shots, but the alien blaster in FO4 is so weak it's basically useless?

From here you could compare the two:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Alien_blaster_pistol

Also, take notice of the related perks & ingame weapon modifications that further effect the Fo4 variant.

Because there was an alien-themed DLC in FO3. Alien tech is so 2008 in FO4.

I kinda get that but the thing about rthe FO3 blaster was the limited ammo, so you had to use it very sparingly, but the FO4 version is essentially useless compared to other weapons you'd normally get fairly early in game. Why include it at all in FO4? Just my take.
The only reason I even brought it up was I finally got around to playing Nuka world and got Hubs alien blaster. Was so annoyed by the uselessness of it I'm definitely using 4 power cores in the ufo ride when the time comes.

Probably balance ?ammo in Fallout 3 was very limited as you only had what was near the crash site and spare cells were scattered across the wasteland as well as some DLC (brother hood and mother ship zeta). Fallout 4's version can be modified to take regular fusion cells which is overly abundant.

In Fallout 1 and 2 the alien blaster would be devestating to anything, using easy to get energy small energy cells so you could reload it.

its drawbacks where short range of 10 tiles and if you didn't turn down the violence level it made looting corpses annoying.

Alien blaster has always been rather broken. FO3 introduced the tradition of limited ammo for the alien blaster. though I believe you can get more with the mothership Zeta DLC?

FO4 the gun uses limited ammo but with science of 4 can be converted into fusion cells.

Compare to a laser, lasers can be legendary, so compare to a laser with sniper parts and unlimited ammo legendary mod. the laser will do more.

the laser can also be a rifle or pistol or automatic as you desire.

Actually, it's because the Alien Blaster in FO3 came from a large highly evolved race of beings that lived on a small planet in the Andromeda Galaxy. Where as, the Alien Blaster in FO4 is just a knock off copy created at Area 51 and distributed through Walmart.

Dont forget that Plasma Weaponry is based off Rerverse engineered Alien Blasters that the Enclave got ahold of.
