How do I install and use character presets?

using the Nexus mod installer, but I have no clue how to use it. I installed it and all the required mods as well...

Make sure you have F4SE and other requirements of those requirement mods and so on.
Then use LOOT to sort the load order.
Then select the preset in game.

How do I load them once I installed them? How do I "select the preset in the game"?

you installed the Presetsfolder (and some other stuff) manually and the mod via Nexus mod manager ?

I put my presets in preset folder and I installed the required mods with the Nexus loader. I also tried to install presets with the mod loader but that did nothing either.

hey, you need to install a mod called looksmenu first, if installed correctly(yes i read that you said you installed all required mods but you can never be to careful just go check them again) the preset will be in the "preset" tab when you view and adjust your face using the mirror.

I had exact the same. Then i understood that the part you install manually in Fo4se need aditional a normal esp mod i installed later via Nexus mod manager

Means install FO4SE with the installer

Ok, but where do I put the manual download of the LooksMenu, and how do I start the game using the "F4SE Startbutton"

EASY FIX HERE: I couldn't find this folder either, no matter what instructions I read. It's hidden. Like, NORAD/CIA/KGB level hidden. But here's how to fix it. Start up a new game, or use looks menu or whatever and save a preset. Name it "PresetLOCATION" or something you'll remember. Exit the game and pop open an explorer window and go to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\ folder. Type whatever you named that preset you just made in the search box (PresetLOCATION for instance) at the top right and hit enter. Your explorer window will summon the ghosts of Aleister Crowley and Stephen Hawking and mind meld them with Kevin Mitnick to search for this file. Once it pops up, right click on it and then left click on "open location." Boom, there you go. Drag and drop the json file for the preset you want to use right in there. Might be worthwhile to make a shortcut to that folder and put a few dozen copies of it all over your desktop and in every folder in your entire directory so you can find it later.
