Messed up controls Fallout 4
I like to use my controller for settlement building as my keybindings are good for my exploring but not building. For some reason when I launch F4 the game screws up my controls, like my jump button being square or my jump button being circle. I have no idea what caused this, perhaps a mod I installed and if flew under my radar. I do have a solution but it requires me to do it every time I load F4. I figured maybe some wisdom of others might help me pinpoint the problem.

Do you have steams ps4 controller options on in the big picture mode? If you do, turn that off as f4 already recognizes a ps4 as a proper controller (will use xbox control prompts).

If you are not using a ps4 controller but a third party game pad with dualshock button layout, there should be a similar option in the big picture mode for third party controllers that you should turn off to make sure steam is not overriding what f4 is already doing.

That fixed my issue when my ps4 controller was acting weird with f4.

Sorry after around 400 hours in that game i am sure the Keybindings and controls a random generated. SOmetimes you need Tab to go back, sometimes Escape, SOmetimes V switch the camera, sometimes it opens the build menue, sometimes the arrowbuttons control the Assetchoice, sometimes R+E, and sometimes R and then E scrap items.

Worst controls ever, no wait there was a D Title game somewhere in the 90s that was worse at controls

You do realize the keys you're pointing out as conflicts ARE the same button, You just either tap or hold?

Wrack up some more hours before you make more silly assumptions.
