why is it impossible to farm razorgrain??
its one of the best farmable foods in the game, used for a lot of good reciepies (noodle soup and mirelurk cake primarilty)

i planted like 6 razorgrains in settlements, but whener i check it out, its unassigned, and it produces nothing.
i assign settlers to work on them, and they do nothing. wtf?

Odd, are you using any mods that affect farming?

have you tried both manual and using the vault-tec terminal to assign them to farming?

Check the razorgrain to see if it has been assigned. If not assign it. If you're not producing enough food, perhaps the settlers are eating what you produce. Reduce production on other crops.

Yeah, plant a lot of tatos or corn, they usually prefer to eat these and then they will leave your razorgrain alone. I always get some grain either on the plants or stored, and I usually only plant three or four, but I make sure there's plenty other stuff for the settlers.

Do you have more farming jobs available than assigned settlers?

If so then the settlers are going to jump around randomly on whatever crops they feel like.

Is your aid tab full?

A settlement will only produce food when the food item amount in the workbench drops below 10+1 per population. This includes misc stuff like hubflower, brain fungus, aster, blight, etc.

Do you own brahmin at the settlement?

Brahmin will increase food production by a LOT.

The other option (one I started on my raider game, linking it to the raider outposts) was to turn a settlement into a robot only settlement

Automatrons farming tatoes, corn, multifruit, razorgrain, and then some of the other stuff added over time for specific recipes i started to use.

Harvesting razorgrain is a bit tricky.
I plant them in straight rows (which I'm sure most of you do anyway)...
but when I harvest it, I have to line up maybe about a meter away and walk through each bush looking down the row focusing on the top third and as I approach it will reach a spot where it gives you the option to harvest it.

This. Can't you just harvest it yourself? Maybe plant them in a settlement with no people there?

That is true. But not what the OP is asking. The OP is having issues with it not being farmed by the settlement inhabitants.

Sorry OP. I have nothing to add. Everything that's been said is what I would suggest. Settlers do tend to ignore Razorgrain if they can harvest something better. Even if you manually assign them to the razorgrain. I have noticed that they will do their random farming and eventually just go to other crops. But, as stated, you could try to force them to the razorgrain, by only having that as the drops that they can harvest. Make one settlement razorgrain, and suppliment the other crops at other settlements.hen I go into adhesive farming, that's what I do. One settlement has tatos only and another has corn only. Not the best method. But, it ensures that youget the resources that you want.

Farming has to be the buggiest part of the game. I'm having the same problem.

Originally, one settler was producing 10 food. I plant 15 more plants and assign two more settlers and I'm now getting 12 food..

For some reason they will only work on about 60% of what I have planted. When I go to assign someone to new plants it says "This person is unable to setup a supply line" or some such.

Miraculously, you can come back sometimes and your plants that would not let you assign workers have food on them!

Whatever you decide to do you need to make sure you do NOT store any crops that are being farmed currently wihtout removing the worker first.

Put down the vault tec temrinal and remove all farmers form their jobs. Then go store all the plants, replant what you want to farm. Go back to the temrinal then reassign all the farmers. If you do not do this and move crops arounds while being work it will create corrupt ghost plants.

A settler will only work 6 food. That can be 12 plants if they are .5 each.

You can ALWAYS assign more settlers than needed, especially using the terminal.

Your numbers do not add up though. You using mods?
ZaggRukk Mar 5, 2018 @ 7:25pm
I just remembered something. The main workbench can only hold a certain amount of resources, before it won't store any more. Is this still a thing, or did they uncap that? If it's still a mechanic, then it's possible that your workshop storage is full (of razorgrain), in which case they won't harvest any more of it until it is removed. Preferrably to a none settlement storage container. And of course you can't forget that if you are missing crop resources and you have a trade route to or from that settlement, then the crops will get dispursed to other settlements as food.
