Automatron Companions Damage Low
So I finally thought I would make a boss automatron. I am level 94 with all necessary perks to build (Science 4, Robotics 1) and I have maxed out commando and rifleman as well.

So here is my problem, no matter what I build, it does no damage or no dps. Made an assaultron/robobrain/sentry mashup with full voltic and double gatling lasers. Gets almost insta killed by level 94 gunners in auto city hub wreckers. On the next try it manages to get 2 gunners to half health, then needs to be repaired.

On next try I go full sentry with one regular and one explosive gatling. Similar result. Changed to assaultron with heavy armor so it could avoid and dodge some gunfire. Worse result.
Went all explosive weapons (missiles, nuka cola launchers, sentry cluster bombs) and got a slightly better result with 2 gunners dead, one half health.

Melee assaultron killed no one. Melee sentry killed one gunner. At this point im desperate. Even used robobrain head for incresed accuracy. It got more accurate, but used its stupid mind blast more then half the time.

Finally I said ♥♥♥♥ it. Sentry with full hydrolic armor, double shoulder nukes, double explosive gatling guns. It managed to kill 4 gunners before going down and it meleed 2 gunners to death. WTF.

Only way it ever kills anything is if I soak up 90% of the gunfire and 100% of the melee damage and it MIGHT get 3 or 4 kills. wtf. Sneaking with an automatron is out if the question.



So TL:DR I have made every "good" automatron build and combo available and it either dies or melees with ranged weapons. Level 94 gunners.

Do automatrons just get useless at higher levels? Am I doing something wrong?

Like I said, I am too buisy in the middle of the fight to worry about that... They get in there, and get the job done with me. I didn't get the DLC to experiment and nick pick. I got the DLC like I got the others, to take and use for myself. For example the DLC for the vault you can run. I went in, cleared it, the lady gave me some docs, which upgrades my build. Then I told her to get lost.

I have NOT returned since, I could careless about that vault. I got what I wanted. I can make nuk power plants for my settlement, build my own house from wearhouse parts and floors. I can choose to creat a complex with the Valt rooms and inclose it at the drive in. Many things, I like to expand my world so much, I got the Nuka Cola DLC and wiped out all the raider factions including the guy that helped me, and start a new explore in that theam park.

This is what I do with the DLCs. You will never find a post of me complaining because I think outside the box in the game. Preston is STILL sitting at the Musum in Concord waiting for my return. And My old home has been quiet with out him and his worthless misfits hanging around. And I already joing the BOS and wiped out the Sythes and their base long time ago. That is how I do things. So sorry if I am not able to get your point in this at all..

Like I said above, I didnt expect miracles but some better efficiency from the new dlc over the vanilla game.

Also I was originally just asking for efficent builds and what higher level people were using as I wanted to min max my robot. I only started complaining when people were defending a protectron with grabby arms ad if they were good lol. Just seemed absurd.

However one thing remains true that I think we can all agree on from the automatron dlc...... Sentry bot legs suck.

warclatt get high löevel with your char, then come again. scaling is broken later ingame roots you build are a pointless annoyance they are quite beats at aropund 40, btut thats it.

it is bethesdas strange idea of leveled opponents and their badly scaling that later breakes a lot things.

You should be happy at the fact your robot companion can kill anything at all honestly.

Most standard companions dont do ♥♥♥♥ except waste your ammo. That includes their crappy carry weight compared to a robot companion.

I guess the question is the difficulty level of your game and how far robot compenions are adapting to that. If the encounters increase in power more than your robot compenions then its like you throw paper darts against flame throwers.. sure

2 mods I prefer at high levels:
Better Locational Damage (BLD)
NPC Level Scaling (All npcs scale with your level)

BLD makes combat realistic. You bleed and have to bandage, shooting weakpoints matters (head, bellies, inhibitors, etc). Everything, including you, are less spongy and you can tweak the damage out/damage in.

I like NPC Level Scaling because the higher level you get the more challenging it becomes and if you install it with beefy bosses then boss fights will be more challenging.

As far as robots go, if you go toe-to-toe with a sentry or a legendary gutsy out in the open you'll die before you can count to 3. It might sound OP but it's not. Enemy robots and bosses will easily drop you but your robots will do the same to others. That's how it should be imo. No human should be able to stand out in the open and John Rambo a group of robots. or anything for that matter

Well I sort of have a confession...I..... am playing this on console...

So some of the better mods are unavailable to me. Also, I cannot John Ramo any group of enemies without taking cover, using the peak mechanic (which most people dont know about), etc. Its just most bots cannot go toe to toe with a super mutant primus, or overlord, sometimes they can take out a warmonger maybe. So idk, they seem like low damage compaired to Synth curie (who has the highest HP of any "human" folower) with full heavy combat and an explosive semi auto maxed out handmade rifle.

Is it just me or is MacCready a pain in the ass? Most people seem to like him be he just seems kinda whiny. Just started to get his perk (again I know I'm late to that party lol).

i must confess...I haven't tried automatron in an unmodded game so I have nothing useful..console needs more mods

Everybody can't be as good as Nick. MacCready's perk is one the best though

I was just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about with my dual minigun heavy mr handy (Who I called "one eye Willy") and I found a strange combo with interesting effects.

I transformed him. I have him assaultron legs with hydrolic armor, sentry body with dual cluster bomb launchers, sentry arms dual miniguns with one explovive, Cruel serated warmonger arm plates, hydrolic front armor, toxic spiked warmonger back, and a basalisk protectron head. Not only is he op as his rate of fire paralyzes a target for essentially forever, he also GENERATES MISSLES from between his buttcheeks. Anyone else ever had this effect??? Are there more secret things like this?

Yeah, I mentioned this earlier. Let me clarify all the best parts.

Assaultron legs = Best mobility legs hands down. Gives your robot the best pathing to their target and the 2nd highest movement speed.
Sentry Body = Only useful because it unlocks....
Shoulder = Unlocked by having a sentry body, these can be fatman, cluster bombs, chemical boms, or whatever. I prefer fatman, but you do you.
SentryBot Arm = Best carry weight, best aim.
Explosive Miniguns or Nuka Cola Quantom launchers. = Both are explosive so even if they miss they still do damage, cripple limbs, and do obscene amounts of damage.
Assaultron Gorgon = Highest level Assaultron head does obscene damage to anything without insanely high resist, and the assaulttron AI makes your robot partner insanely aggro. Can also be replaced with the sentrybot head with the unique helmet upgrade from automitron if you want a bit more damage, but worse AI.

Robot companions do INSANE amounts of damage if done right. And don't worry about experimental weapons. They break once in a blue moon, and dropping combat or healing them with a repair kit fixes them.

aren't those missiles the cluster bombs? do you have a screen of those "after missiles"?

However, yes some strong combos just require the nuka cola addon ontop. But thats exactly the issue with the companions, they are unablanced, so you theoretically can build a lot combos, but only a few are truly secent, the rets is pure rubbish. Especially heads is siuch an example and how many are exclusive to the sentrybot.

I know about the cluster bombs, but I meant that the bot actually keeps making missile ammo in its inventory. Every now and again I opem the bots inventory, after a while or a few fast travels, and he has between 10 and 12 missile ammo in his inventory. Maybe its an inventory glitch as I had given him about 10 missiles to hold a while back, but ended up selleing the to arturo.

My robot rocks, and that I do know bro... She dose what I need her to do for me.

Not sure if it counts for all automatrons build form nowhere, but codsworth gives you some water randomly, Ada junk and CURIE stimpaks. Not sure if selfamde autos do generate soems tuff too. never use them tbh.

All companions give you crap at the level below max affinity.

The missle manufacturing seem really abnormal. I have never seen that happen.I use two shoulder missle launchers all the time after the takign the no companion damage perk.
