Back when Pete Hines had said that the studio didn't want to be known for just doing Elder Scrolls and Fallout, he was actually giving a huge clue away right there. Bethesda Game Studios is not developing another Elder Scrolls or Fallout this year or next. They are and have been developing already a huge IP. A new AAA title within the rpg universe, that is not of itself Elder Scrolls or Fallout. That is not to say that it could not be inherently linked to either game in same way, but only that the title itself is a new one. Yes, Starfield is definitely real. Some say, as a result of the beginnings of Creation Club, and some "experimental" ideas in Fallout 4 (settlements), that this new Starfield will be a freemium game supported by mods, microtransactions (creation club), and multiplayer (not necessarily mmo). I think that they wanted to release Starfield last year as a Creation Club only game without mods, and decided at the last minute, that that business decision was a terrible one and a slap to the modding community. (this is just a guess on my part).
Or something else that was sorely missing compared to other high end products released at the time. Or perhaps something similar to other games released in 2017 that they didn't like. There can be many reasons they didn't want to announce a new game last year. Also: Another reason they have may have had a shortcoming at E3 last year, was the Game of Thrones and HBO mystery. It may have been, that they were about to wrap a game up there, but had to pull its announcement due to HBO throwing in a towel, or BGStudios themselves not having the game at a ready state. It was evident that Pete Hines was irritated at the lack of information.
I think it is interesting that they had a lack of anything from BGStudios. Either Winter is Coming or we will be heading to the stars. Buckle up.

I really should put them all in this topic because they are spread between two topics at the moment. Just interesting how much hype this is getting and amount of Youtube channels on this subject. Will start doing that now in fact.
