Scenario 1) You rescued the minutemen first, went to Nuka-World second, but DID NOT raid the commonwealth yet. You're fine with the minutemen.
Scenario 2) You rescued the minutemen first, went to Nuka-World second, and YOU DID raid the commonwealth. Preston will always hate you and there is nothing you can do about it.
Scenario 3) You DID NOT rescue the Minutemen yet, and went to Nuka-World first. You Raid the commonwealth without saving Preston yet. You rescue him later. He will hate you, but will forgive you if you wipe out the raiders, and everything goes back to normal with the Minutemen.
Scenario 3 is the best possible route to take because:
1) You get the raider perks and the special rewards. (Best melee weapon in game from Disciples)
2) You can put Pick-me-up stations at your Raider settlements and they still work when turning them back into Minutemen settlements. $$$$
IF YOU WANT TO BE A RAIDER but still want Preston's perk, the best thing to do is do Nuka-World, get the first quest from Shank, and simply not do it until you get Preston's perk. Preston will not hate you until you actually plant the flag. You can also just blow off going to Nuka-World until you get his perk.
Dont have any hard save from bevor arriving in nuka world?
Open console and enter the following commands:
Thanksssssssss <3
I had to use the mod method because the commands suggested by others above, do not work in all situations... i guess. They did give me his perk, but there was never the option to recruit him. He would however, tell me how good of friends we are.
