game is sped up. need fix
i've been trying to get this game running for a day now and it finally does, but it's accelerated in every part; dialogue, movement, animations, sprites. i forced fullscreen and a custom resolution and disabled mouse accel and smoothing with rinput, and i disabled vsync to not suffer from that mess yeah. do i need to set a framerate cap now to keep the game from over accelerating due to removal of vsync locked @60?

Yes it speed up and got killed until I got used to the speed
Otherwise it's great

Yeah you need to fps lock it to 60fps or the game speeds up everything. If you have an nvidia card you can use the nvidia manager and set up some vsync that locks it to 60fps.

You don't have to lock it to 60 if you keep vsync on in game, and you use adaptive vsync in tne nvidia control panel

I am on a 144hz screen and the only fast issue I have is with dialog when talking to NPC's and certain animations which is no big deal

The entire game is still sped up. It's just not as noticable. At 180FPS songs will cut off mid song and other stuff. Tbh locking it to 60 is the best option. You may break the game if it runs too fast.

I been through 3 playthroughs already, not broken any mission or anything with it being fast

If you have Nvidia control panel, a simple fix would be "Manage 3D settings -> Program Settings" under "select a program to customize" go to (fallout4.exe). Under Feature you go to Max Frame Rate, turn it on and set the limit to 60 FPS if you want the general FPS set.
The document Pref settings are under priority to the control panel.

Disable V-Sync, Enable (nVidia) Fast Sync / (AMD) Enhanced Sync.
It will automatically cap to your screen refresh rate and will speed up your FPS in the low areas like downtown and sanctuary.

Use this mod for a much easier fix!

I'm using a 165hz as main display, my god was locked to 60 or less, so I removed cap, but that caused inconsistencies and unstable fps, especially sped up during conversations. Locking it to 120fps in Nvidia control panel resolved it for me

120 is still in the danger zone, when you get scriptfails (quests break) or strange physics you need to slow it down more. problem is the engine locks itself with EVERYTHING to the frames, and was never expected to go over 60. the higher you are above that, the more propabilty that something breaks.

Did you know that when fps is 120 you can't even jump as high as you normally would. Also at some point favourited weapons start showing no textures, like invisible when equipped.

Set monitor to 144hz or 120hz then cap to that. Monitor refresh must equal FPS cap.
144FPS is already suffering some noticeable speed up so the optimal is 120.
