Messing around with console commands is the best way to completely ruin your game.
Figure out why he's following you. Obviously this has got to be part of a quest. Have you googled it? I'm sure there are hints out there.
Edit--Well, I'd say you need to work on your reading comprehension. Is English your primary language? I just watched a little video about Spike. It is clear that if you talk to him, he will become your companion. If you don't want him, you can speak to him and dismiss him like any other follower.
Spike has 4 options (talk) They don't change.
They are
What now?
What is it boy?
Where you headed?
Well,look at that
None of these dialogues lead to anymore conversation with Spike.
There is no dismiss
I did not "choose" Spike
He just sort of popped onto the screen as an automatic companion
Will "Amazing Follower tweaks allow me to dismiss Spike?
What you said above was just the answer I am looking for:
Is Spike am essential companion or can I make him non-essential so that he might perish?
Will this mess something up really bad?
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13285/
rather than typing in the console, considering all the cheats you are using plus it prevents mistyping.
I'm using it for generic companions and some other tweaks to fine-tune a Horizon modded game to my liking; but it has many other options too. You can also disable the Essential status such you're asking for, with it as well as set affinity, make them leave power armor, get them to quit attacking you etc.
Listen to Rider -- and some of the others here -- for the follower advice, mod. If you don't want to cooperate and bombard people with questions, don't expect the help you're demanding.
I got the mod and tested it out on Spike (Amazing Follower tweaks)
Apparently Spike is a "Core follower"
This was indicated when I attempted to "recruit" Spike
So,he cannot be recruited because of this:
"Importing Core Followers Not supported"
And in addition I can't utilise any of the commands in the AFT Readme to dismiss him either
So, it appears the only option I have is to set him as non essential in the console however he cannot be killed by me EVEN on Godmode
So how would any other creature or character kill him?

"How the heck can I get rid of Spike (Spoiler)Spoilerspoilernsfw
So with the (very cool) Fusion City mod, I went down to Vault 59 (mostly for the great looking armor and skimpy leather pants) knowing I didn't want that stair blocking (uncomandable at this point) conversationally wanting critter following me around I didn't open his cage, well damn if he wasn't there at the end of clearing out the vault anyway. I know if I find Decon's kid and do some other Glowing Sea quest I can get him as a companion and the dismiss him but I really just want him gone now. I've tried killing him, nope, I've tried turning him agro running to another area then fast travelin away, nope his unkillable ass just fast travels to the same location. Is there a ...delete this fool companion command I can use"?

you could always try disabling him from the console. Maybe re-enable him just before the exit so he turns full companion and you can send him somewhere far away

Well that was kind of the problem he's wasn't really a companion just following me around and getting in the way, (but invulnerable / unkillable) so fine I went back vault 59, again, fought my way through all the respawned chuckle heads, paying attention to the mission objectives this time, (checking every terminal for info I don't care about) and now he's available to be a companion and so capable of telling to get lost, free at last. TL;DR took care of it just had to replay the mission and pay attention.

So, uh, how do you get rid of Spike without replaying the entire mission, what did you find out while you were paying attention? Spike is my companion now but every option to speak to him only has him roar and then nothing happens. Edit: Nvm, I found out, it was something I already knew but forgot about. Need to complete mission Remnants of Vault 59 and then Spike will be a full companion to reject forever.

Thank all the gods and little fishes for the incredibly practical answer of finish "The remnants of vault 59" mission. That does the trick although if you are as heavily modded as i am the commands aren't straight forward but selecting another companion does the same task. I am very happy to be rid of that door blocker (never did anything else)
I already completed "Remnants of Vault 59 so what can I do?
This pulls up a "paper" Some in this category say True and others say False.
I do not see where any of these true and false settings can be changed. Wouf AFT change them (somehow if I found the controls) or would I have to utilise the INI?
I never saw anywhere in the INI's where info settings could be changed for NPC's
Is there really such a way in the INI? which one should you look for?
