Thinking about starting a raider playthrough, looking for RP and build advice
I took a pretty long break from Fallout 4 last year. I loaded up an old save and I'm not really into that character right now. I do want to play the game, and I'm thinking of playing the opposite of what I normally do. A full raider playthouth sounds pretty fun. Well, as close to it as I can in this game. Here's a basic look at the skillset[www.levelbased.com] I plan on going with.
----------
Obviously I'm not completely commited to any of this. I wouldn't have a problem moving things around a bit.

Strong Back might only get 2 points as it's not absolutely necessary that I be able to sprint.

I'm not sure how viable they'll be late game, but I would like to stick with pipe weapons and armor/clothing that you normally see raiders wearing. That's why I've fully perked into Armorer and Gun Nut, though I'm sure I won't need all four ranks in each before I hit the max level mods for that gear.

I can't really think of an appropriate companion (maybe Strong, but I'm not a big fan), so I put points into Attack Dog and I'll grab one of those rottweilers. I haven't looked into it, but I hope that perk isn't exclusive to Dog Meat.

Sneak I'm not too sure about. I've used it a lot and I'm not sure it would really fit with a raider character.

I thought about using Lady Killer or Black Widow, but I'm not sure how much of a smooth talker I want my raider to be (that's why I'd be using it, not for the damage buffs).
----------
As far as the RP goes, it's pretty straightforward. I don't want to play this character as a total moron. He/she (haven't decided that either) will be a raider with half a brain. I will only play on survival because I have for so long that the lower difficulties bore me. I don't add that to brag, I just thought anyone wanting to give advice should know that.

I also plan on drawing this out so no running through major settlements and mowing everyone down. I will help people, but I'll always demand a reward or find some other way to screw them over. This will require drug use to raise my CHA. I thought about putting points into Chem Resistant, but I think the character should suffer a bit.

I'm not big into settlement building, so I think I'll just build one raider camp, probably in Hangman's Alley (but I'm not deadset on that location). Other than that I'll just create small hideouts around the commonwealth to rest and resupply (Basement Dweller is perfect for that).

I'm not sure what faction I should side with, if any. Despite having Nuka World since they released it, I've never played through it, so that might be exciting. I don't know if there are any new factions to join with that included.

Again, I'd like to stick with gear you see raiders using, but I'm not sure my plan to only stick with pipe weapons will work out.
----------
That's about it. It's just a basic rundown, nothing is set in stone. I'm 100% open to modding, which I will be doing. If you have any mod suggestions, just try and keep it themed with the build. If you want to move some of my skills around, I'd like to take a loot. If you have any RP suggestions, feel free to add them. If you've played a raider style character, feel free to post your build.

Thanks in advance!

the three factions in nukaworld:

The Operators (lawful evil) - smooth talkers, less about violence and more just robbing people, good for a sniper/stealth raider

The Disciples (neutral evil) - stylistically the closest thing to a base-game raider gang, they love blood, torture, and knives, good for merciless/light-melee raider

The Pack (chaotic evil) - the most drug-induced raider faction, they utilize animals and heavier weapons a lot, good for attack dog/heavy-melee raider

That's about as much as I can give without spoiling it. Best thing to do is go to nuka world before putting in too many RP-specific perks and just see which one you like the most. Hope this helps
Believe it or not, I'd consider the Pack Lawful Evil. The Pack has a code of conduct that forbids members from killing eachother, and Pack dominance is asserted with pranks and showmanship, not violence and subversion.

Disciples - Chaotic Evil. Blood for the Blood God

Operators - Neutral Evil. What's in it for me?

The Pack - Lawful Evil. The Pack protects its cubs, everyone else is meat

Where do you find strong again?
^ You can find him at the top of Trinity Tower. I think the quest "Curtain Call" as to be accepted, not 100% though.

To add a little fun without all out settlement building, use console to jump to them and take them. Use the transfer settlmemts mods and build some settlments to take over. Other wise its pretty boring attacking a settlement with 4 guys and a shack.

I thought about it and it's not a bad idea, but I'd have to sacrifice 7 levels to raise my END just to unlock the perk, then another 3 to max it out. I'm not sure if I have that kind of patience and I refuse to cheat. Problem is, with this build, my character could really use a higher END.

Excellent suggestion! I did a little digging and I found a few other mods to help make me look the part. This may help.
I suggest playing as a female for a raider playthrough too. Nora's VA sounds so much better with the evil Dialogue than Nates.
Nora's VA sounds so much better at everything compared to the guy who robotically voiced Nate. However, they both aren't the greatest choices in voice actors, Courtenay Taylor has plenty of her own shortcomings throughout the game.

Still, I'm leaning towards female for this RP.
