As for Fallout 4, the stealth suit and the backpack are tempting, but not enough for me to go buy a sony cash card. I have gotten a lot of free stuff for CC. Its free, so why not?
As Wurt ponts out, you can get the stuff if you want. In other words, it is optional.
not really, there is no dlc needed to ba able to buy credits.
Faulting a company for trying to make more money is really rather stupid. They exist to make money. They can't make more games if they don't make money. As games begin to cost more to make, they need to make more money to keep making games. They may love making games, but they also make games to pay their morgage and feed their kids.
the CC is there because sony won't allow mods from any source other than the originall authors to be used on their hardware that they are allowing you to use, the playstation.
so there is only one place for playstation users to get mods and that is from bathesda.
i was a voice against CC till i found this out.
i never liked it, but now at least i think it's a good idea.
Theres many ways to be greedy... Im not sure if Fallout 4 was your first game in the series or not. But the Fallout series along with TES series has a very huge fan base, ever since the series turned into 3D from 2D they have had the option for open modding.
You really think they would change that over the night and cut off the majority of their fan base ? Simple answer is no....
Bethesda used to deliver huge open world games with huge open gameplay and so much stuff to do you could in theory never finish the games.
I will be honest and say Fallout (not fallout 4) and the TES series is the games i have had the most joy with in my entire life since i started playing games back when i was like 12-14, even after 2 years you can easily pick it up again and start fresh and youll always discover new things and it wont feel like your running on repeat...
But ever since they launched TESO and Fallout 4 it has been nothing else then about grabbing as much money as they can. Been spewing out DLC's that you would think would be in the game already from launch, but they cut out to create a DLC to launch after for some cheap extra bucks.
Bethesda used to be a company for the gamers, but its sad to see its turned its focus on the owners / investors.
Im 32 years old, iwe been playing TES and Fallout since Fallout 1 came out and been a huge fan of Bethesda. But seeing what it has turned into is just sad....
Feels like they teamed up with the guys behind Payday... Cause those guys really knows how to spew out meaningless DLC to cash in....
And starting with that "have morgage, have kids to feed" is just ridiculous, good example is Skyrim - 85 millions to make. 1.4 billion earned.... ;) Not sure how much Fallout 4 cost to make, but they made 740 millions the first day it was launched.... So you can kind of picture how much they have made already without the DLC's.... ;)
Nexus as alot of it even cheaper.
ESO was not developed by the same company, but a different development team called Zenimax Online Studios (or something similar). It is set in the distant past of the Elder Scrolls universe so as not to conflict with the "real" Elder Scrolls games.
Owners of TESV:Skyrim got Skyrim SE FREE. Older TES titles (I and II, with more probably coming in the future) are downloadable for FREE from Bethesda's website. That's much nicer than the unkind practices of the parent company which owns a lot of other developers too.
340 hours could easily have been played after FO4 was released and before the Creation Club became available. That's only around 14 days 4 hours if the game is left running 24 hours a day and less than two months if played 6 hours daily.
FO4 can easily suck up that much time a day if it's what you're playing mostly. for two weeks or two months. It's easy to pause the game for meals and/or sleep/etc. and leave it running, which can result in 24 hours a day being recorded as having been played.
If FO4 was played every single day between its release on 2015-11-10 and today (808 days), only around 25 minutes a day would have been required to reach 340 hours. Even if my math is wrong, it's still possible.
If they actually put out Content that would add to my play experience I can see purchasing it. They just haven't found something that appeals to me (no shame if it does to you).
That being said. I think they could have handled the impact on those who HAVEN"T partook yet. That is a valid complaint.
but there is no way to handle the impact on people who dont want the cc stuff without to limit the creativity of the cc content creators. If a creator needs a framework or certain script funcitons bethesda adds it to the maingame so that the creator can realize his idea like the weapon paintjob framework or the script function updates for example.
things like that need to update the .exe of the game and to be honest things like that benefit everyone because they are free to use for free modders too.
this mostly only affects the script extender, the vast majority of mods out there have no problems with this kind of updates but i cant see a way to handle the impact on the script extender. The only way would be to not update the .exe and the script functions at all which would limit the creative freedom of the creators.
Perhaps (and I am in no way claiming this would have worked) they could have released a CC DLC, which would have enacased the workings of the CC mechanics similer to how Nuka world upgrades certain perks. Keep the ESL system as is, but it all ties back to the CC ESM which would act as a buffer to the Fallout4.esm. Self contained. Again it may not have been feasable, but Isolating it, would have negated all the bad blowback.
Also, seriously they need to be more communicative about the changes they make.
Side comment, I hate Bethesda.net . It is maddening to even try to access it, let alone find information (such as What the Slocum Joe Content actually contained). I had to use Google and get creative with the search paramaters. I still haven't created an account and every time I go on the site I get less motivated to do it.
