Brahmin on the roof?
Whenever trade caravan carla would come around her brahmin would always be on the roof of my house and it made me laugh everytime, I got rid of all my saves and I wonder if the glitch would be back, is there anyway to make this glitch happen?

The roof of the yellow house in Sanctuary is the 1:1 point of that cell. That means when the cell resets theres a good chance settlers and stuff will spawn up there and stand there.

So yes, it will happen again... and again... and again...

Thats why the first thing I do is build a set of stairs leading from the roof to the street. Theres nothing like running into my little Sanctuary cityscape (I've turned it into quite the city over the past couple years) and seeing a brahmin and a half-dozen settlers walking down the stairs from the balcony of The Twilight Room.

I made a second and third story addition to the roof of the yellow house, its Sanctuary's red light district. What can I say, I've got some kinky settlers.

This is part right.

The 0,0 is in the garden behind the house. I get your meaning of the 1,1 being there though.

When you fast travel in or load the cell the AI makes an attempt to place units along their plotted path and plots their positioning form the 0,0. Then it just drops them along that path depending upon the time passed.

Once you set up a bunch of supply routes you can fly across the Commonwealth in a vertibird and see the brahmin running across rooftops (especially at night because of their lanterns.) Same reasoning as above, the AI determined they are in that cell at the time it loads then it just drops it.

Aye, I always forget it goes by 0,0. In my defense I recently woke up and haven't had any caffeine yet. :berserk:

Thanks for clearing that up.

So it'll always happen in every save?
Odd because my first 3 saves it never happened.

I don't think you understand what glitches are.

Ok, obviously you did not get it the first time around.

Trashcan Carla has a trade route. She goes to X positions stands there for X amount of time then moves to the next X along her path (Sanctuary, Drumlin Diner, and Bunker Hill.)

So lets say Trashcan Carla is only in Sanctuary once every two days for four hours. (Never bothered to figure out her schedule because you change it the first time you place a Bunker Hill trading post.)

For her brahmin to be on your roof you have a four window every two days it MIGHT happen.

During that four hour window you need to fast travel or load those Sanctuary cells. Then the AI MIGHT place it on the roof if that is where the the position and time is calculated to be.

It happens far more often with fast travel because fast travel passes more time than running.

Now your provisioner brahmin being on the roof is far more common to happen, especially the more supply routes you have going in or out of Sanctuary.

Ah, so I just have to wait awhile then when I randomly fast travel to sanctuary the cow will be on the roof?

Sorry I just don't understand X, Y, all that stuff.

In other words, the units on the roof are pure coincidence by timing to be there. Play enough and you will see it happen.
Ilja Jan 25, 2018 @ 7:43am
That cow isn't there by default. As said above, it might end up there, or not.

Like settlers standing on roofs, they will come down in time, when settlements has a reason to refresh actor locations.

Carla's brahmin isn't the only one having these issues. Provisioner brahmins might also end up to weird places. Wandering settlement bhramins as well.
