NMM Mods not activating (Also applies to Skyrim)
I've had Nexus Mod Manager for YEARS and have had few problems. Then, just out of the blue, some mods just won't activate. However; sometimes when I spam the activate button the mod miraculously decides to install.

The way it happens:
I click on a mod, and click "Activate."
The little install symbol appears at the bottom for like a econd, then it says Idle without installing the mod.
when I check the status all it says is "An error has occurred" and nothing else.

NMM is running as an Admin, and it's fully up-to-date.
I have the latest versions of Fallout 4, F4SE, Skyrim, and SKSE and they're all admins.
I have editied the F4 ini so modding can be possible.
I feel like I've tried everything, but nothing seems to work.

(Feel free to ignore the rest of this post)

Looksmenu for Fallout 4.

Most recent version of F4, LooksMenu, and F4SE.

I use RaceMenu for Skyrim all the time, with no issues at all.
LooksMenu for Fallout 4 is a different story.

I've tried using NMM to install it, and manually installing it, and it worked out both tries. Everything was in order, except presets. For some reason, the "Presets" option is totally greyed out, so I can't save or load presets.

I googled this, and it led me to another forum that said the F4SE version I had was wrong, so I downloaded a previous version. But when I tried to run the other version, I got an error saying the version oi Fallout 4 I had wasn't compatible with this version of F4SE. I can't change the version of F4 that I have, but the version of F4SE was literally the one right before the current version.

Everything is in the right place, I've also tried manually creating the Preset folder and everything, to no avail.

Any support to either of these would be greatly appreciated, and thank for taking the time to read this.

Can't help with issue 2.

By the the way you're saying it, the mod[s] download fine and just won't activate for you. Have you tried double clicking on the mod to activate it instead of hitting "Activate"?

As far as F4SE goes, it is game version specific. So for the current game version 1.10.50 you need F4SE 0.6.4 I am not sure what your issue with the presets may be. I am currently running 1.10.50 and 0.6.4 and Looksmenu seems to be working for me. Last time I started up for testing I did not have any presets loaded, so I can't help with that, although I did see the option there.

F4SE works fine.

I can download mods just fine, have them in NMM, and no matter how I try to activate some mods, they just stop and say "an error has occurred".

Keep in mind, I've been using NMM for nearly 3 years now, with no problems.

How large are said mods?

Usually it's with bigger mods 100+MB, so I thought that maybe it didn't download completely. But a long time ago I had it working.

Hmm. I usually only had problems when mods started exceeding 1-2gb. I never had an issue with stuff as small as that.

Really it varies. I'm able to install mods like Vivid Weathers, but I can't install like a weapon mod, or maybe armor. It's just random really.

But wouldn't it be all mods if it weren't set up right?

read the log and see where the error is . you probably arent setup right , i know reading is a pain , but your doing the same thing here , only no one here can see how you set it up .

All I can suggest is to reinstall NMM. It just sounds like there's something wrong with your install.

Just on the off chance that this might help, have you created an exception in your AV program for NMM? I never used to do this in Win 7, but since switching to Win 10, I find that games an programs like NMM, LOOT, ect will function without issue if you create an exception for them.

Reinstalling NMM is a good idea if you can't find another solution, current version 0.63.14.

You might try manually updating to 63.19; One of my mods wasn't working and I found it had updated to ESL Format, which the default 63.14 @nexusmods doesn't actually support.

There's evidently backstory regarding the fact that the nexus is moving to a new mod manager implementation called 'Vortex' and the NMM is not getting officially updated further, so .17 and .19 are community updates.
