Can you make automatron robots just be workers, not companions?
I want to build robot workers in my settlements, but I don't want them as companions, and sometimes them being avalible as companions messes things up, so can i make them not companions, only settlers?

You can place them to do anything. I've built Jezebel's body and sent her to Gray Garden settlement, built a bar store and set the robot to stay putt. Even tho that npc won't be having anymore business with me at least she is not away and is doing something instead of leaving me.:tgrin:

Yes, absolutely. You can give them jobs (defense, provisioning, medical, etc.).

I know that but i dont want them as companions. They will randomly come up to me ask to travel and unassign themselves. For this reasoni cant buy from automotron venders.

I know that but i dont want them as companions. They will randomly come up to me ask to travel and unassign themselves. For this reasoni cant buy from automotron venders.

Assign them a job and they will not ask to travel with you again.

They just always to ask that as first time; even if you assigned them to a shop / guard post / worker location. Just "cancel" the question and talk again. The second dialogue should contain the settler dialogues.

Btw, for stores, you have to be aware that these are only open (most of them) between 8am and 8pm. With exception of the drink stand/bar/restaurant (until 10pm) and weapon emporium(? - seems open all times, not sure if a bug but is handy anyways).

Problem?

Automatron's robot companions (including Ada) have an annoying habit of locking you into dialogue (asking "Do you want me to go with you?" or similar) whenever you go near them, forcing you to either walk away to 'leave' the conversation, or say "Actually, I'll be back later" for the thousandth time. This could be pretty disruptive if you were trying to get things done. For instance, I dreaded ringing the bell at any settlement with a lot of robots, because while I was trying to talk/trade with the human settlers, the robots would be continually interrupting me.

Solution

I ticked "Requires Player Activation" on Automatron Robots' greeting dialogues. Now, the recruit dialogue will come up only if you choose to initiate the conversation.
