I worry that someone I just started Family Sharing with has the DLC enabled though, and that it's being forced on me now.
I would double check by going into my library and selecting properties for fallout 4 check the dlc tab to be sure it is actually off
Not that I play the game regularly anymore, but I do have this game's auto-updates disabled. I was just curious, in the event that I might allow updates again, just to check what Creation Club is all about.
Edit: I wanna add: You know, is there way to know of the download size *before* going ahead with the update?
Since adding & removing the DLC license from my account does nothing, is there any chance this isn't actually the high-res textures?
I mean, it could very will still be the high-res tex, since you've only removed it *after* the update thingy was initiated (even though you've already paused the update).
I just Googled "fallout 4 high resolution texture pack size" and the text I got from that result was saying something along the lines of 58GB of disk space required for the high-res tex, so that could very well be it (You know, 55GB download, 58 to sort out disk stuff). As far as the Steam Client is concerned, you're still going to have to download it even though you've removed the high-res DLC, but you only did so after the update was initiated (from what I understand).
I dunno... My best guess is... To just go with the flow? Just download the update, only to remove it later? But how can you remove it if you've already removed the high-res DLC from your list... Unless you put the high-res DLC back again in your list, just so you can uninstall it after the 55+ GB update is complete? If you know what I'm saying.
I never knew something like this could happen from family sharing.
(But it queued when another account was logged in, to approve Family Sharing--that account has since removed the DLC as well, to no effect)
I'll just leave it queued for eternity. I refuse to open the gates to this oversized download.
Really? For eternity? Surely you don't mean that... Ah man, I hope you find a solution to this soon rather than later. It'd be nice if you could figure out a way to circumvent the 55GB update...
But I dunno, if I was in your position... And I was running out of ideas, I'd just go with the 55GB update, just so I can remove it later, but then, removing that 55GB could be not as straightforward, since technically you never owned the High-res tex in the first place.
It might even come down to a re-install... I dunno man.
But you know, the decision is solely yours at the end of the day.
Oh, found this on Reddit. But be advised, this is for Civilization 6, so, y'know, little tid bits may vary. I don't know if this helps, but you know, make what you will of what I found.

I hope you find a way to sort this out soon.
Like, with a client update. Or when I someday switch computers.
Unfortunately there's nothing in my downloading folder, and the acf tables already read the desired numbers. But I shall stand strong. This update won't get through me.
in any case, "Always look on the bright side of life" and all that eh.
