Survival Mode: Does running affect thirst, hunger, and needing to sleep?
I've decided to do a new run through and haven't really thought about how the running mechanics work. Does constantly running though affects your AP by reducing it.. Does it affect how fast your thirst, hunger and requiring to sleep takes effect?

No, not 100% sure since it's reading code(no testing at all) but from what I get: it's based on a timer, every time you awake a time interval is set, when that time interval expires the tired effect is applied or increased.

if you sleep < 2 hours you are just delaying need for sleep for the time you slept and saved the game. Sleeping > 2 hours grants 14 hours awake before getting tired.

If you suffer 'sleepiness' disease then it's just 7 hours awake,

Nuka-cola and cherry ones extend the timer to 16.33 hours
Quantum colas and rare caffeinated drinks extend it to 21 hours

Tiredness applied is recalculated both at the start of 'Caffeinated' and when the effect ends.

So for tiredness purposes sleeping > 2 hours should be enough. Another thing is for health/limb restoring purposes, adrenaline lost, well rested/lover's embrace. There's when sleeping up to 7 hours matters. More than 7 hours sleep doesn't give any benefit, it just skips time, which may be useful to play with solar powered/night person perks.

As a test I spent all day sprinting round Sanctuary. I got Hungry faster than usual, but only about twice as fast as sitting there doing nothing. Because of the sprint AP recharge delay but probably more so due to a cool down timer on the hunger debuff for entering combat / using AP, I suspect.

Interestingly thirst lagged behind hunger (kind of the opposite of what you would expect for constant sprinting) so I suspect only hunger is affected, though I hadn't noticed that in the code. I will recheck some time.

I don't think tiredness was affected at all. Could be wrong, I wasn't really watching for that.

Extrapolating, killing yourself from hunger by sprinting would take a very long time, not significantly quicker than dying from starvation by sitting there doing nothing. Maybe half the time, very roughly.

I have only done the Museum with the dog or the robot. But usually on my own because it's SO much safer that way.
