If you are not seeing the Assault Option I don't know what to tell you. Might be an Armorsmith Extended (or compatibility patch for AE)
I am using the last released AWKCR.
Also be aware that you can have an armor type look like another armor type of the same class. Light looking like heavy, Heavy Looking like Light. You can even upgrade a Light (say legendary) to a Heavy (again with the Correct materials).
Check the visual options and see if it is set to one of the non desired.
I have a long mod list (Including AWKCR and Armorsmith) but I ALSO had a mod installed called "real marine armor" which was the culprit. Deactivated that mod and then everything worked fine.
If you don't have "real marine armor" installed and still have the problem, my guess is that another mod conflicts with AWKCR and causes the texture bug.
