This is an discussion about fallout 4 but indirectly as its about some nexus mod for *ahhaha pipboys. So anyway these mods all have similar installation methods that you would have to learn to be able to fully enjoy their labor at your fullest. I had to learn how to manually install and un-install these mods myself in other games like skyrim and FO3 and didn't have many issues after a rocky start... So just keep trying and you'll get better at knowing who to complain to.
The instructions for installation and un-installation will be on the Nexus page for the mod. Some mods have different versions for NMM and manual downloaders be aware!
