CTD after minutes of play
Recently wanted to play again after upgrading, had no issues in the past with my old 1060, now with a rtx 2070 my game crashes to desktop, no error message, after a few minutes each time while playing in main overworld. Recently installed a few creation club items but i can't imagine that would be the problem

PC Specs:
RTX 2070
AMD Ryzen 5 2600
32 gigs raam

have all the DLC (even the HD texture pack) and a handful of mods and creation club items
Friend mentioned its a memory overload from the games poor coding but a potential fix didn't work

Any input is appreciated

The issue is that weapon debris is probably turned on. As of right now (and probably forever) Fallout 4 does not work with this feature turned on, with an RTX card installed.

Hope this helps, and please log this issue with Bethesda support. The more people do it, the more likely they will look into the issue.

I wouldn't use the HD texture pack, it's been mentioned before here that there are better textures mods at nexusmods site

And make sure you enabled mods in the proper ini text http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Fallout_4_Mod_Installation

Turn off weapon debris, causes ctd's for the new Turing cards.

Alienware Aurora R8
RTX 2070 Super
i7 9700k
16GB Fury Ram
1TB NVMe SSD
No mods installed
All DLCs installed
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Game runs fine at 3840x2160 for about 5 minutes and then crashes.
Reported to Bethesda and went through all basic troubleshooting.
They did admit that the game is not optimized for 4k on the newer hardware coming out.
They asked me to run the game in 1080p *FACEPALM*
When I told them that was not a feasible fix or excuse they said they are escalating the case to next level support.
I will try running without weapon debris and report back if Bethesda responds too.
With the RTX 2070 Super being so new every single game I buy starts in 1280x720 and I have to change settings in game or for the more difficult ones I have to huntdown the .ini and check that "Read Only" box ;). Price I pay for buying so new I suppose.
LOL. Yeah how is that working out considering that was posted a year after Bethesda announced they were done supporting Fallout 4 as a product.
That's unacceptable that people don't run max settings with a rtx card having to turn off a graphical feature omg, hope Nvidia or bethesda fix it soon
still affect the graphics and its absurd that someone have a expensive gpu and don't run this game on ultra, whats the point of having that gpu then?
The game runs on Ultra fine. Just not "Ultra default settings" because it flips on Weapon Debris which adds VERY LITTLE to the fidelity of the game.
but if you disable weapon debris the game is not on ultra anymore.
For me was a combination of weapon debris and Decal Qualtity, if any of the two is ON, the game will crash in a few moments, especially inside buildings.
