No sound / GTX1650 not being recognized
Hey y'all I need some help here. As the title states, I cant get Fallout to run correctly for nothin. For the sound issue I tried to download X3Daudio1_7.dll. That at least got the game running. There is still no sound in game though. The game also doesn't wanna pick up my graphics card. Hell I've spent all day reading around, updating drivers, and toggling settings. I am stumped lol. If anyone has a more modern solution, that would be so so awesome! Thx :P

Other games do work such as Fallout 3, N.V., 7 Days to Die, etc...
Laptop Specs: MSI 63 Thin 9SC
Intel Core I7 9750H
Nvidia GeForce GTX1650 w/ Max Q
16gb Ram

The GTX1650 is not recognized because it was created after Fallout 4 was released.

The game doesn't need to recognize your graphics card to properly use audio drivers.

I'm going to guess because it's a laptop, your motherboard is running the audio not the graphics card so look into updated drivers for your mobo or onboard audio device.

Whats up y'all thanks so far for the support! So I missed something big I think lol. I don't have the commonredist file. Therefore I can't get to the DirectX. I've even tried installing DirectX from Microsoft with no dice. It keeps failing installation (probably because it is pre-installed on every computer). I've reinstalled 3 times now but its always the same stuff. It is getting to the point where I'm gonna return this computer cause I've never had this problem with this before. Doesn't help that I don't know much about this stuff (yet).:lunar2019deadpanpig::steamsalty:

So no audio? I would guess that its the config files being written before you installed the dll

And ya know it looks like booty cheeks at higher rez too.

Oh and did you restart the pc after you installed the dll?

So did the restart solve it?

Nope lol. Currently I am reinstalling my nvidia drivers to get geforce working. Crossing fingers that that may help. What about the DirectX?

Doubt anyone is following this but I thought I'd do an update lol. Fixed my Geforce issue by uninstalling and reinstalling all Nvidia drivers. The game is looking good. Still havent been able to get my sound to work. I'd try the DirectX but I can't even find it without _CommonRedist

did you try this??

or this?

Had this problem with Skyrim when it came out. This MIGHT fix it - Right click the speaker icon in the bottom right on Windows, and press "Playback devices" then highlight your speakers (will probably be one with a green tick) then click "properties" in the bottom right. Head to the advanced tab and change the "default format" to 16bit 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) or any of the other ones See if that works!

Heres a resource..

Yeah I've tried both of those. I'll try the other dll file again instead of the 1.7.

My DirectX wont install or reinstall either. Doesn't FO4 come with it's own CommonRedist folder too or do I have to copy it out of Steam main files?
cheshirm Jul 29, 2019 @ 2:30pm
back in february steam moved most of the common redist folders out of each game and into one folder
...\steam\steamapps\common\steamworks shared

there are TWO X3Daudio1_7.dlls. a 32 bit version and a 64 bit version that go in different system folders. you installed the correct version in the correct folder - correct?

I put the 64 bit into my fallout folder. Wouldn't even run without it. Like I said tho I'm new to this pc stuff.
