Cait ditched us after Vault 95
I was browsing Diamond City market with Cait and my two custom-made companions. (I'm using the Personal Bodyguard mod, so I have multiple followers, never any trouble with this mod thus far.) Suddenly Cait starts the dialog about wanting to get clean and visit "Vault 95."

I wish there had been a dialog option "Oh, you mean the same Vault 95 full of Gunners we cleared out only yesterday? Sure, we can go back if you really want to."

Anyway. We go back, kill the lone guard who had spawned on the roof and went inside. Walked around the empty vault to get the research area open, went to that special room (OK just one gunner in there) and completed the quest. She's all happy and well now. She is bantering about my checking out her arse as she leads the way out. I pass her and jog through the convoluted route to the elevator, head to the surface, etc. At the top, my two usual bodyguards are there, but not Cait. So I jump to the nearby settlement to try and force her to reappear. Nope.

So I explore the area a while...still no sign of Cait. I go back into Vault 95, now completely abandoned, and no Cait. Doing a web search, I see nothing that indicates that she leaves after this "Benign Intervention" quest is over. I'll check out the combat zone next, but it would be a pity if she vanished for good...

Anyone else have her vanish like this? Thanks-

Do a player.moveto her id (found on the wiki). If there is no-one visible she might be invisible. Open the console and see if she is standing in front of you by moving the mouse around slightly.

If I may, I've never had her leave like that (possibly related to mods?) but if you have the Vault-Tec DLC, you can use the special terminal at any settlement to track her - it turns her location into a little quest and even marks it on the map!

While you can also use the console commands to move her to you (or you to her), I do not remember them offhand sorry; but I mention the terminal because I've used it for this exact purpose - and this method can also be utilized if you are playing Survival Mode.

HTH a bit, GL

Interesting, hawkeye, I'll try it. What if she's invisible? Is that part of the cure? XD

Edit: Thanks Tesityr.

To teleport her to you open the console and put in: prid 00079305 then put in: moveto player

She should teleport right in front of you from wherever she was.

If you're curious where she currently is and want to teleport to her instead then you can type in: player.moveto 00079305

Ryan, thanks, tried the moveto command to move myself to her location. It was comedy gold:

Cait, leaning against a pillar down in the Combat Zone: You ready to head off? Me: Let's go. A game notification appears at upper left saying "Follower Active." (So, somehow her status as follower got modified without my having noticed it, therefore likely mod related.)

As we exit the place, she shouts "Why the hell have you brought me back here? I hate this ♥♥♥♥♥♥' place!" Then, after we go out the front door, a similar line but less heated.

Good on Bethesda, even the bugs sometimes help tell a story...

Cait left her power armor behind. She just walked away even after I said no. I'm loaded with armor and can't get her to move to me. I'm probably off with a character or two! 🤦

Can your bodyguards get out of power armor? That's why I ditched it. There's no option to ask them to get out of body armor.
i think your bugs have been reported about a year ago.

Maybe the last pinned post is relevant?

If I may add, most probably already know this; but after popping back into the game for fun, I totally forgot until I re-remembered it:

To have the "exit power armour" option come up, you have to make them your Companion and then Talk to them twice (top option), then it will show up (just having them as your Companion then walking up to them to chat, it won't show up right away..). GL with it

So pure speculation:

The reason she "left" was because when she entered the room it set here player state as non companion so it would control her actions and make her unable to respond to commands. When the scene had ended it went to add her back but found that you already had a companion (two actually from your statement).

So she reverted to her NPC Package which was return to the Combat Zone (since you didn't and COULDN'T specify another destination. Granted it would take her a while to get there depending on how long you shared a cell (The space the game engine has rendered).

That's my understanding of how the game works, which may or may not be correct.
Eagle_of_Fire Jul 13, 2023 @ 11:38pm
Like the guy above me just said. I was about to point it out. Companions usually either go back to their default place or go back to the last settlement you set them to before asking them to follow you as companions. If you have the DLC for it you could simply build the white computer thing and ask it to ping her location on your map too.

On a side note: did you guys really need to necro a 4 years old thread just to add some random mumbo jumbo?
Ihateeverybody Jul 14, 2023 @ 2:31am
as long as the thread informs (isn't bad or outdated information) it can't hurt but remind experienced users and educate new ones.

Thats just my opinion though.
