Assign children?
I cheat the game using a console command to make settlers movable that are usually stuck to their settlement. For instance, I moved the father and his two children from Somerville Place to Sanctuary. But the two children cannot be assigned to a bed. They just stand around all night. They don't auto assign themselves. I have a mod that makes children size beds. But I can't assign them to those either. When ever you select them it just says not assignable to anything.
Any ideas?

The children in the game are just window dressing. There is nothing you can really do with them. This could possibly have something to do with if you could have an effect on them, some players would kill them, and Bethesda doesn't want to get a ban slapped on them in certain foreign countries, like Germany for example..

I think children will auto assign themselves to crops during the day. Been a while since I had Sommerville or Nordhagen.

As for beds, nope, you can not assign them.

I want to say that setcommandstate =1 line or something will allow you to command them. I have never tried it myself.

I think SIm Settlements had some school plots but not sure if they worked right or not.

As stated, I think moving pre-existing children breaks their script, so they don't werk rite. I normal don't try to move them, but if I did I would be using "orphans of the commonwealth". That scripts them as "normal" settlers. They still have all of the mid restrictions, unless you get mods to correct this.

Yea, I went back to an old save to check. While at Somerville, they do use their beds and farm. So I broke their scripts by moving them. That makes sense. I have a clone gun mod I could use that would make them a normal settler. The mod Amazing Follower Tweaks can also make any NPC into a settler. I don't want to make them a clone. I should try AFT and see what happens. I will try that console command first. Whenever I fell like mucking with the settlement stuff again.

I think that falls into a bunch of NPCs. Like Connie Abernathy if you assign her to say a store, she will still be using the harvest food script.

Like the museum idiots, only they have that hammering idle marker script for some reason. You put normal settlers there instead and you dont see it. Which also means they suck for manning a store.

The kids have that same predetermined script thing going on and unless you can remove it replace it with "normal settler script" then I would bet they pull a Jake Finch and just stand there doing nothing (after the quest is completed.)

There is like at least a dozen or two NPCs that have scripts that break. Would be nice to have fixes in the UOFOP but the people that know how work on their own stuff instead, which I cant blame em.

Yes. I found that out before. She loses her script to sell you stuff if you move her. I forget what she did at a store.

Yes. The clone gun mod completely replaces the scripts. And I think it replaces the voices with a generic one. Because an NPC like the water beggar has no settlement type speech. I assume the AFT mod does the same thing.

Yea, and I am too lazy to learn about fixing these things. The kids are fine just wandering around. I do not need them to farm. It is just a slight bummer to see them not use a bed. I will try adding that console command but that is as much experimenting as I want to do.

Might want to check for a mod. AFAIK I can assign kids to tasks and SIM settlement places. I had one mod, can't remember, where you can essentially build your own place and call it a schoolhouse, complete with kid desks, a teacher desk (where an assigned NPC can become teacher), raises settlement happiness.

I have that mod. Settlement Activity Markers (the new name). That's the same one that lets you make kid size beds. I never tried making a school. I'm a little lazy at settlement building. I don't use sim settlements. Looks like too much new learning to do just for settlements. The kids do use the chalk drawing markers that come with that mod.

On PC version of the game you can use the console commands on the 2 there plus the dad.
You can also use it on the child at another settlement.
And you can use it on Meg at Bunker Hill.
This command can also be used on Smiling Larry and any other NPC that can be used in a settlement that you can not command.
The only NPC that this command does not work on is Phyllis at Egret Tours Marina.

Just make a bat file for this command called cchild and your good to go. (That's what I call it anyway.)

setpv bCommandable 1
setpv bAllowMove 1
setpv bAllowCaravan 1
addkeyword WorkshopAllowCommand
addkeyword WorkshopAllowMove
addkeyword WorkshopAllowCaravan

Ya, ya I know this is late to the party but hey if it helps just one player then its okay.
