You are below the minimum specs to run the game so likely not possible.

if I had to guess your laptop is 32 bit and fallout is 64 bit which it will never run. And your windows 7 laptop will be useless in jan due to microsoft droping support. So your going to need to buy a new windows 10 laptop. I would suggest buying a desktop for the same amount of money for double the power you would get over laptops.

Can that laptop even handle watching a stream of the game?

Anyone that uses a laptop for gaming should/would have replaced that laptop like 5 years ago?

sounds like its a 32-bit system

its a 64bit
You could try many things to make it maybe a little playable at the absolute lowest settings, but I recommend just skipping this game till you can get a better laptop, there's no point in being able to play it if you're just gonna fry your laptop. There aren't that many laptops that still have 4gb, and the ones that do are all practically so far under the game's minimum required specs, and 4gb is already itself half the recommended amount of ram.

even for minimum, your going to either have to have extra ram to be able to run the game AND have integrated 4gb storage for graphics, OR have a good dedicated video card to handle the graphics. I would say 8 ram and a good 4gb graphics card, or integrated graphics and 12+ ram (4 for graphics, 8 for system/game), something like that. I have integrated graphics and 12 ram and it works good, simply because i have a little extra ram that the integrated graphics can use to actually make it go. I doubt very much it would work if i only had 8 ram, that extra 4gb ram for video really helps.

its a laptop so more then likely the integrated video is crap too and 4GB ram is not enough for fallout 4

Play Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas if your on system specs that low

We need your full specs, just saying 4gb means nothing. Which cpu? Which gpu? if your cpu and gpu are fast enough you will be able to play on the lowest.

if they are not good enough, no amount of mods will realistically help.

If you do not know your specs, click help, then select system information and paste what it states so we can check your specs.

It doesn't matter what his GPU and CPU are. That laptop is not made for gaming. Windows 7 alone requires like 2 GB of Ram just to run. That leaves you 2 GB of ram for other things, not counting the game.

It can't be done period. Well there is a way.. you could check out the Shadowbox / Shadow tech virtual gaming pc service, but I don't know how reliable it is. I guess if you are desperate its worth a shot for 10 bucks. Just good Shadowbox or Shadow tech.

I've tried it back when I had a 350$ Acer Aspire 33BM 3 years ago, its only works if you have 8 ram, unless you have an overkill cpu/gpu.

Its a ram issue the game requests alot & so does your Windows OS, Windows 7 & 8 are alot worst too since they aren't 64bits, tho I can't recall if they were patched, there should be an option to run in windows whatever in options.

Post your steam page system info, if you have integrated graphics you should expect to run the game at 720p 20fps with 8ram & a duel core 2.3ghz, thats how I ran it for a year.

Upgraded to a 700$ Asus FX504 with a GTX 1050 two years ago its was better but still no enough for me to enjoy the game, you can spend 700$ for a GTX1060 version by now which I would recommend.

Here's a video I made running vanilla (unmodded) Fallout 4 on an old APU at 720p lowest settings. (Afterburner overlay in the upper right of the screen)
https://youtu.be/HSb72-L6TXs

If you don't have at least 2GB of dedicated video memory, don't bother trying Fallout 4.

i think you'll need more ram, if the gpu can still work

I'm running on my laptop with these specs:

i7 2620m <- old i7 2nd gen
radeon 6450m - <- crappy card
16gb ram <- this helps a lot

with the help of these mods:
best low end config - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/24108
texture optimization project - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/978

Eh? of course it totally matters what his gpu and cpu are.

There you go fallout 4 running, 4gb of ram @1080p. Yes its using virtual ram, but its running and playing at 60fps. Okay its on low detail and stuttering and dropping fps now and then, but its playing.

Specs are vitally important. Everyone is simply guessing at what the op is running. Many assumed 32bit and were wrong. The op has confirmed that they are running 64bit. Hence my point posting specs are important.

Do not get me wrong, the op could be running a potato, but they may not be, that is my point, we are all guessing, we do not know.

Now granted as he only has 4gb its is quite unlikely the rest of it is really high spec, but as the vid shows, it is possibile they could still be just above the minimum needed. Its also possible depending on the laptop, that they could upgrade to 8gb.

Why a new laptop? They may just need to upgrade to 10.

Op if you do not know what your specs are, click on help at top of steam, then down to system information and paste what is there. Then we will all know instead of guessing.
