It's only drawback is that it disables the melee/stealth kill animations for some reason.
... Or just learn how to bash.
Baby Mirelurks are literally the only thing I bash and that's cause I can't hit the buggers with a gun without VATS.
The same key goes for the heavy melee attack.
People actually use melee?
I tried a melee run in New Vegas once just so I could be high str ***hole of the wasteland, but man it was boring combat.
Also good against ghouls, you don't spray ammo all over the place and you can defend against their hits.
That said, with SM and human opponents blocking so frequently when they also use melee, it is indeed boring.
I'm in firefights with bullets wizzing by my head and lazers lighting up the room like lightning on a moonless night...
Why would I trade that for "run up, slash slash slash, repeat"? It just lacks strategy.
whoa there pal that double dipping. should just try learning to bash, gently.'
though i do pack the world series bat around just for the lols.
I personally use Fallout 4 Tweaker by Bilago (I think it is), but you can of course alter the INI files yourself to whatever you want them to be.
By Default, it is like a quarter-of-a second of holding the key down to Throw, so you can change it to a full second (until you will hear the 'Thrown Click' when you hold the button) if that helps you.
IfI may add one more Suggestion, if you *really* can't get the timing down for the difference between "Power Attack" (tap button) and "Throw" (hold button) - it gets difficult in the middle of battle - when you want to do some fancy-footwork melee-een, then just un-select any Grenades in your inventory (take the indicator away in your Pip-Boy™) then you can hold your key/button down as long as you want (until you see your character attack, even).
When you want to throw stuff again, bring up your Pippy-Boyy (it pauses the game) and select a grenade again.
