Anyway, removing the frame-rate limit will make the game go faster, because apparently the actual speed of the game itself is tied to the framerate. Whether that's by default or design, I don't know, but the frame-rate limit or cap is there to prevent everybody running around like The Flash.
Having said that, I'm not disputing what Bubblegum said. Nowadays, games are usually made with the console market in mind. People on computers are important too, it's just that console gamers are importanter, as it were, since they form a larger slice of the cake, or pie. Kind of like cars, I suppose. Manual/stick-shifts are phased out in favour of automatics, just as crossover SUVs are more popular than sedans or even hot-hatches.

You are partially correct. The engine uses frames to process scripting. When you force the frame rate too high the the scripting goes to @#$% because it does not have the time to process.
