Vault 81 'Hole in the wall' mission is bugged.
I've tried all the different ways of completing this mission, including console commands, but nothing works. The Molerats never attack me, unless they're right next to me, and when I have the cure and push the button on the elevator to leave my game locks up and I have to hard reboot my computer. The only thing I really want from doing the mission is to get Curie as a companion. I can use console commands to finish the mission, but what's the console command to get Curie as my companion...as in: move her to my character?

Edit: it was a mod that was interfering with the mission. I have no idea which one, of course, 'cause I had a bunch of them running...disabled all of them except 'Survival Options' and started a new game. I have Curie as my companion now, but, unfortunately, I also discovered that several other mods are broken, including DEF_UI. : /

You should be more concerned with why your machine is locking up. I've done that mission dozens of times without issues. That's definitely no bug. It's extremely rare for a software or game to be at fault. These games are tested and patched by developers that have been doing this for years. They wouldn't release something that would cause harm to an adequate PC.

Remember, most users have zero issues with this game. If your PC locks up and freezes to the point it's no longer responding, that means something about your PC is unsafe.

I have run into this issue a few times myself an spent a few hours trying to figure out the cause. Except they were the molerats in the Molerat Den and Concord Sewers.

The biggest thing I can narrow it done to is there is too many scripts trying to run and the molerat ai scripts are broken.

Also, is the elevator issue is an infinite load screen? Which again, that infinite load script is probably an overloaded scripting issue.

So most likely you got a mod causing the issue.

There's nothing wrong with my PC...none of the other games that I play have any issues, only this one.

The Elevator route simply locks up...whereas if I backtrack to the "secret" door entrance I get an infinite load screen.

Any preceeding 0s are not needed.

You have a script issue with a mod then most likely.

Yup, completed many times with no issues. Sounds like a mod issue and your PC having it;s own problems.

Yeah, like I said, I'm not having any problems with any of the other games that I play...just this one. I don't mod any of the my other games, either. Even though I'm playing with the exact same mods that I had in my previous 2 playthroughs, it's probably a mod...because modders use the same faulty/unstable tools that Bethesda used to create Fallout 4 - one of the buggiest most poorly designed "AAA" ever released! :D

Even if you don't have issues with other games, that doesn't mean your system wont have issues with Fallout 4. The game tends to create issues involving newer systems quite frequently.

It has nothing to do with his PC and everything to do with his mods jamming the scripting.

The scripting is not allowing him to exit through either way. He could even do the quest and try to console move command out and it will jam.

If he disables all his mods and then does the quest smoothly are you still going to blame his PC?

The only things that are new on my computer are my graphics card: a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, my monitor: an Alienware AW3418DW 34" 3440x1440, and my RAM: 2x 16 GB 3200 GSkill

The only real issues that I have, aside from this quest bugging out, are with the 21:9 ultrawide monitor and trying to get it to work well with DEF_UI...half the HUD widgets are @ 3440x1440, the other half are @ 1920x1200! :D

That's going to be my next step...I went back to a save before going to Vault 81. I'm going to give it another try...if it doesn't work I'll disable all the mods that I think might be involved, see what that does. If that doesn't work, I'll disable the rest. I have to have my little French sloot!! :D

BTW, I did try using the console to teleport out of the vault after getting the cure from Curie...resulted in an infinite loadscreen.

I knew it would because I had tried the same thing thinking there might be a problem with the exterior cell I was exiting into.
