Starting Far Harbor
Can't get this DLC to trigger. At level 18 and rescued the detective...but neither the detective or his secretary will open up the quest. What am I missing?

Bought today Far Harbor loaded my saved game and right away Far from Home quest came in.
The store page for this DLC doesn't list any warning about which requirements are needed like Automatron does so my guess would to finish the base Fallout 4 campaign so you can get to start Far Habor campaign.

P.S. I'm level 98.

Completing Getting a Clue, or going straight to the Nakano residence, are the two ways the wiki says to start Far Harbor:

The add-on starts off when the player character listens to a radio message from the Valentine Detective Agency after completing the quest Getting a Clue, or when the player goes to the Nakano residence (possibly even before meeting Nick Valentine). Arriving at the office, Ellie Perkins will tell Nick and the Sole Survivor to investigate the case of Kasumi Nakano - the missing daughter of a fisherman living beyond the northeast boundaries of the Commonwealth. A brief investigation at the Nakano residence will tell the player that Kasumi believes herself to be a synth replacement, and that she's decided to leave her parents and travel to a place far north called Far Harbor to be with people like her.

No you don't need to finish the campaign, I don't think you even need to start it since you can just go to the Nakano residence before anything. The game officially lets you start it once you have Nick as a companion if you decide to actually follow the intended path.

OP if you have the console enabled, open it and type

help "mirelurk jerky" 4

if you get results then it's installed properly, find where the Nakano residence is on the wiki and just walk there. If not then make sure the DLC is properly installed by right clicking your game and clicking View Downloadable Content
You can just show up at the house and trigger the quest at any level. I've started it at around 10

It's kind of in the natural exploration path, in my experience.

Yes but it also gives Nick extra content and they wanted to maximize exposure and minimize complaints from people who only play the game once.
Far Harbor mission kicks off only after you have done main quest bit at Fort Hagen.

Not true, you can walk straight from Sanctuary to the Nakano residence, fresh out of the Vault, and (if you survive that journey) do Far Harbor. There's a weird moment where the Nakanos say "are you the detective from the agency?". You bluff through that and you're golden.

Nonetheless it's clearly intended that you get the mission from Valentine's Agency.

Sure you can start it off earlier that way, but mission autostarts a few minutes after leaving Fort Hagen, assuming player is high enough level. That's what i meant.
Ok yeah that makes sense. And it's the best way to do it anyway because you get the extra depth of Nick's dialogue.

Thanks for all the help. I couldn't get the trigger from the detective agency so I traveled east then north and finally found the Nakano house. I'm now in Far Harbor and ready to rumble.
