Broken Drivable Motorcycle Mod
Hello. I have recently tried to install this cool looking mod into fallout 4 which spawns a motorcycle which you can repair and drive. Link here:https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21899/?

I have done my best to install it manually. I have never tried to use NMM because it seems unessasary. I extracted the files and put them all into my fallout 4 data folder. I then edited the fallout 4.ini file and added the required line of "[Camera]
bApplyCameraNodeAnimations=0". I also added these lines:"sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\" and "bEnableFileSelection=1". When I searched for the motorbike behind the museum of freedom, it did not spawn. I swore I checked everywhere. I then proceeded to make sure that the mod's plugin files were loading in. I added a new text document called "plugins.txt" to fallout 4s appdata folder and added the file names of the plugin files to it. Still nothing. Keep in mind there are no load order conflicts either. The last thing I tried is to put all of the individual files in fallout 4s data folder without their original parent folders. What I'm pretty much saying is all the files sat standalone in the data folder. Still no results. Please help. Thanks.

If you manually created your plugins file then that is likely where your problem is. First and foremost Confirm you placed the Driveable Motorcycle Mod.esp, main-ba2, and texture.ba2 files with the sound directory in the data directory.

Ok. So manually editing Plugin file is a little tricky. If you don't have LOOT I recommend you get it or be prepared to use the Bethesda Mod Manager (in game Menu).

So if this is your only mod then just use the Bethesda Mod Manager to activate it. It should generate or alter the plugin file in AppData\Local\Fallout4 .

If manually editing the plugins.txt, simply putting the esp, esm. or esl is not enough. You have to place an * to activate it. Here's where it gets more complicated. That * needs to be to the right of an invisable (line break) character that seperates one esp from another.

Example:

*Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esp*XDI.esm*ArmorKeywords.esm*Snap'n Build.esm*ScrapMachine.eslSimSettlements.esm*BrawlerMelee.esp

Notice SimSettlements has no asterix so is not active. (Disclaimer the example above contains no linebreaks but that's how it appears in my plugins file. if you want with line breaks try this:

*Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esp
*XDI.esm
*ArmorKeywords.esm
*Snap'n Build.esm
*ScrapMachine.esl
SimSettlements.esm
*BrawlerMelee.esp

Thank you for your help. This did explain why the mod wasn't showing up in the game at ALL. Its because I had the files all in their original files, with wierd names, making them unreadable to the game. I have that fixed. Going into the Bethesda Mod Manager, I did see the motorcycle mod in the list and activatable. Doing this I also needed to activate the dmm blk compatibility patch. This mod, which is a standalone .esp file, was registered as a file that did not have the files it depended on. This file is from the developer and I know i didnt miss anything, so I checked a google search just to be sure. This mod doesn't even exist as a standalone mod. Not sure what to do. This same phenomenon happened when i tried to install the mod Vivid Fallout-All In One. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/25714?tab=description This mod is just a compressed ba2 file and .esp file. Again, the game thinks it does not have the files it depends apon. Dont know what to do. Im going to get loot and see if it can fix it for me. Oh and also I did have to make the plugins.txt file manually. I still have it in the appdata folder. And the fallout 4 data folder does not have pre-built folders for "audio", "sound", "textures", ect. The thing that really confuses me is that the actually fallout 4 folder, not the data folder, has a "mods" folder built in. Its empty though.

I did download loot. It is very confusing. The one thing I did do with it is poke in the .esp files metadata to try to point them at their parent .ba2 files. Nothing happened but I tried. Still need help lol.

It sounds like you did everything right. I read through your posts several times and I think everything's in place. The mod mostly works for me (except I could never get the headlight working). I personally used the Nexus Mod Manager, but that shouldn't make a difference.

Is this relevant? I use MO2 which generates this ini tweak automatically which apparently enables mods.

Yeah i was pretty sure that it was correct until I started trying to use it. I already realized the dmm compatibility patch .esp was broken somehow, but i tried it anyway. Driving the bike made walking noises as if your on metal. No motor sounds whatsoever. My character is also tposing on the bike. I also couldn't get off at all, so I had to reload another save. I know the patch file is required...and the game simply will NOT let me enable it because it thinks its missing dependencies. Any idea what is going on or what to edit in LOOT to fix this?

Sounds like you did everything the overly complicated, obnoxious and easily messed up way.

NMM is outdated, firstly.

Vortex modding is literally as simple as dragging a file into Vortex's "drop box" and clicking "Install, Enable" It will even automatically LOOT sort for you.

I can't fathom why you would jump through any hoops when it could really be that easy.

And that mod is broken. You should read the bug reports:

I just installed it with MO2 w/o any problems. All done in 2 minutes. MO2 makes installing mods easy.

There are 2 downloads - the bike and the mod stated in the readme - barber and surgeon camera fix.

Went for a drive. I prefer walking. It just moves a static bike object around with you and plays some bike idling noises.

Now, if it was red tractor and a trailer for my followers and we could play instruments and sing Steve'n'Seagulls style then I'd be interested.

Oh yeah, I did forget the barber and sergeon fix. True true. To be fair I thought the actual working mod could do epic flips, rodeo turns, ect. I guess not. I might try to get Vortex as jouchebag said. Regardless, without that app for some reason to manually install mods, I have to go into Bethesda mod manager and enable it. I haven't heard of having to do that on any guide I have viewed. Any idea why this is?

One other thing. The barber and surgeon fix was installed in fallout 4's data folder, obviously wrapped in its "scripts" parent folder. I don't know if this is part of the problem but I wouldn't think it is. The fix has no .ba2 files or .esp .esm .whatevertheotheronewas. just .pex script files. It doesn't show up in the BMM as a mod. So is it already installed?
