Helena's Instructions
This is bugging me, because in 10,000 hours of playing I've never encountered it before, and because it's so cryptic. I found a young woman's body, near Bedford Station, the hotbed of ghouls in the early game. She was carrying a single note that said simply: "The package arrives at midnight." It didn't say where it was going to arrive, and the note is not even quest related. I can throw it away.

But I can't throw it away. I've got to find out more about this mysterious woman named Helena. For all I know it's just a gag tossed in by the writers to hook players and send them careening in circles for hundreds of hours.

Anyone heard of Helena and her note?

Search more around Bedford Station.

You will find another note with more info on a dead NPC called "Dutchman" and a holotape inside the station building in the terminal.

With these you have all the clues to piece together the whole story.

Oh, OK. I know where the Dutchman is. Thanks.

So, the Dutchman and Helena were working for the Railroad trying to help a synth escape, and the whole thing collapsed getting them both killed?

Yes. Did you play the tape in the station?

It is one of those missed lore opportunities like the dead Minutemen in Super Duper Mart. The two of them could have been part of lore associated with the fall of Switchboard.

It is just like the Railroad observation post above Vault 111. Dead lore opportunity.

From the vault 111 railroad observation spot Deacon was spying on you.

I think those two dead Minutemen ( in the Supa Dupa mart in Lexington ) were part of Preston Garvey's Before you ''meet up with him in concord'' . As for the observation post above Vault 111,
according to the radio announcer from Diamond City Radio , you are seen leaving the Vault wearing your vault suit , I' m assuming from that observation post

3 dead minutemen (body in the pharmacy, basement and loading dock). 2 Dead Minutemen outside musuem (1 with the gun PG tells you to pick up and one outside the building east of the church.) Not sure how many of those are accounted by PGs tally of his journey. Some could have been trying to link up.

I like it when they don't explain. Or at least don't keep leaving convient holotapes with absolutely no source of recording them. If the apokolypse happened and someone rifled through my house, they wouldn't find anything describing my death or life...they would find a grocery list of things I intended to buy.

God forbid they find my collection of personal high school era poetry...I should really burn that crap at some point.

EDIT: Ninjad

3 Dead Minutemen. Yes they were part of Preston's group. Such an incredible huge lost opportunity. If you take Preston with you to clear it out, he says nothing. Does not even notice. He had no way to know this is where they ended. He would have only known that they never caught up to him at Concord. The recordings make that clear. He does say something about being killed by ghouls for someone else. I think for the BOS soldier at the training grounds. Grrrr. This made me angry at the game developers team. Preston should have had some comment.

Strange they were using machineguns. Thought they just used lasers--synths 1 and 2's.

Maybe they only stuck them in late; using voice actors unfortunately means you need to have them turn up and read those lines.

What annoys me is that the body in the garage (which is part of the outside world) will get cleaned away by the game if you pass close enough for the area to load, but don't come back to examine it until later. So if you don't realize that she's there because she's hidden behind a locked garage door, you can miss her note entirely.

In this game, sometimes lasers go bang bang instead of pew pew. Lasers are supposed to only go pew pew, dangit! I made a thread a long time ago complaining about the BOS battle at the police station. When you approach, there is all this bang bang gunfire Including automatics. Sounds like 20 people. But the BOS only have lasers and the ghouls don't use guns.

PEW PEW! dang it!
