The guy with the gun is human, the one on is knees is the sinth

Just kill the two yesterday because was using the companion Heather mod, and she said something about just kill both of them to be sure.

Only the one on his knees have a sinth component on him

I've killed both before and then come across both later doing the exact same thing again. So I ignore them now.

This will fry your brain - they're both synths. They exist specifically to sow confusion in the Commonwealth.

One of the coolest quests in Fallout 3 was finding out who the Synth was in Rivet City. Then once found if to turn him into the Institute or allow him to continue to live there. Involved going into the bow section of the ship which was really dangerous with a hidden entrance under water and finding and talking to a different characters and looking for clues and it is a good mystery.

Are you sure those weren't alien agents?

Of course they were. Zimmer one of the Institute characters in Fallout 3 who claims he made the first Synth even says they have attained access to technology the player character cant imagine.

Half or more than half the technology in Fallout is based on alien technology. The entire title is based on an alien attack on Earth when it comes down to it.

If anyone believes anything the Institute says in Fallout 4 they have no brain at all, it leaked out their ears or something.

Every single word from the Zeta Aliens Institute in Fallout 4 is a lie.

Fallout 2 introduces the fact Robo Brains are based on alien technology. Has quite a bit of story involving Zeta alien influence on various technology.

Fallout 3 introduces the Institute and Synths and space combat with the Zeta Aliens and that Vault Tec was taken over by the Zetans and that the aliens may have started the great war when they started orbital bombardment of Earth.

Fallout 4 gives details on why almost all the vaults were eventually designed to wipe out anyone that entered them because they were eventually being run by the Zeta aliens near the beginning of the war.

Fallout 4 also explains why ghouls are a thing from the food poisning that turned them into ghouls when the rads hit.

Fallout 4 outright says the Zeta aliens/Insritute made all the Supermutants in the Commonwealth and explained more about alot of things.

The Zeta Aliens have lost, mostly shot down, between 7 and 9 ships, maybe more, in the Fallout games, two of which were capital ships.

There are more mysteries and questions like the topic title asks, but what isnt a question is that the Zeta Aliens are running the Institute.

Congratulations, you just murdered two identical humans then. :-)

The synth component is a dropped item, doesn't require pickpocket, can't be pickpocketed, only drops on death.

I realize this is an old topic... but thought I'd chime in. What I have found is I just get close to the two of them and one of them will at some point start attacking me. The one that attacks me is the synth. I kill him and every single time he has the component. Now why the institute wants to replace poor Art so badly that they send clone after clone to replace him... now that is a true mystery.

How do you know that that one is *the only* synth? They're both synths - there to sow confusion on the surface.

That makes perfect sense ! :steamhappy:

Wasn't there a similar encounter where you can talk to them and one of them you can trick into admitting they're from the institute with a speech check?
Krondelo Nov 6, 2023 @ 6:59am
WTF stupid google. I was curious about this as well and did a quick search and google states the one holding the gun is the synth (so it seems like reverse psychology) but damn I guess it was wrong.
