People often complain that they can just stand there shooting at an NPC in the open while they soak up each other's bullets or blasts, but I never have this problem. Because I use cover. And peek. And flank. And just generally play the game as if I were, you know... roleplaying my character.
I was recently near Goodneighor when I got pinned down by super-mutants. I use the Redux mod that makes them smarter, tougher and adds Nightkin to the game. So the hounds come in and they take their toll, and now here comes the Legendary and his boys moving from wall to wall, hammering me with suppressing fire of their own. I had to jet throw several frags at them and slink away through the rubble around the old church, then book it over the bridge.
I didn't win the fight. Not even close. But I lived through it. And it was fun. That's what got my blood pumping. I made it out. And I couldn't help but feel like I could have done the same in Fallout 3 or New Vegas, but it wouldn't be quite the same. Bethesda does suck in a lot of ways, but the gunplay is miles above where it used to be.
