Power Armor level range question
How far is the range of power armor that it detects your level and gives you level specific pieces? I noticed that I walked past the national guard armory and when I came back at level 30, the suit outside that spawns x-01 at that range was T-51. Would like to know so I can keep better distance in the future so it doesn't preset the armor to low level pieces

Leveled power armor

Most power armor located around the Commonwealth is level scaled. For example, at lower levels one will find T-45 power armor though at higher levels it can range from T-51 power armor up to X-01 power armor. Leveled frames spawn with T-45 pieces at levels 1-13, T-51 pieces at levels 14-20, T-60 pieces at levels 21-27 and X-01 pieces at level 28 and above. The upgrade level of armor pieces also increases within these ranges, e.g. T-45b armor will spawn starting at level 11. The armor pieces generated do not include previous levels, e.g. a leveled frame encountered at level 26 will only have T-60 pieces.

If it was T-51 and you are level 30, you must have passed near that area when you were level 14 to 20.

I am aware of the level scaling for power armor spawns, in fact you kinda just repeated what I said in the OP more or less. I was asking what the distance was that the set detects your level and spawns the set for the appropriate level range so i can judge a better distance to keep away from sets I want to spawn as X-01

Ah. Ok. I :spg2bomb:
On distance? Couldn't say.

Yea, I'm gonna say its far enough to where if you can see it in the distance then it's probably already been preset at this point lol

Isn't it whether or not you enter the actual cell that spawns the PA? For example, the armor that spawns in the top of the Court 35 building is in a separate cell from ground level, so you could walk by that building early on, and come back later at level 28, and still get X-01.

Yea, this is the case but I was wondering the distance I had to be to avoid walking into the cell itself. For example, is the cell XX meters away from the county crossing settlement or is it inside the area of the settlement itself and how far does the cell reach from other sides of the NGA?

I was just discovering South Boston military checkpoint at lvl 77, and when i reached the Power armor it was a T-51, i had a quicksave in the trailer where the fatman is found, and when i reloaded from that save there was a X-01. I was stupid and didnt take it out thinking i could come back later, but now many reloads later still only T-51....
I didnt give up, and after a while there was a a suit of X-01, or so ithought….
When looking at the suit from outside the Cage it looked like a X-01, but after opening up and entering the armor it changed to T-51, very annoying.
So i resorted to the console, only usable in the PC edition.
Here's a link to how to console it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/3u734l/pc_resetting_leveled_power_armor_spawns/.
Have fun with Fallout 4 :)

I'm pretty sure, it's (way) more than the actual cell. 'uExterior Cell Buffer' also plays a role,
