Settlers only assign themselves to one crop
For whatever reason, whenever I assign a settler to farming they only assign themselves to the crop I selected and not the others I placed. Now I can't build major settlements, which is problematic.

I can't just assign them to each individual crop either because then they just go and tend to the other one I selected and abandon the last one. Some help with this predicament would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It all depends on the order of placement of the food

Example: place 12 tato's plants when there ain't any food in a settlement
= 1 settler doing 12 plants.

If there is already food the settler will always assign that food first before your own placed food.
(it's about placement order i believe)

What i do it:

Remove all food.(store it)

Place Mutfruit 6 tree's = 6 food assign 1 settler.

Place another 6 food 12 Corn plant's when i have 6 settlers. 12 Corn plants = 6 food

Then when i have around 12 settlers i place another 12 Tato plants = 6 food 1 settler assign.

3 Settlers will do 18 food.
Then when i grow even bigger settlement around 17 Settlers i start grain fields.

12 Grain patche's = 6 food. 4 Settlers produce 24 food after playig some while.

That's about it. And i build for every 6 food a greenhouse depending on the settlement i am at ofcourse. To protect it.

I hope i wrote it so you would somewhat understand.

Ignore the animations - look at your total food being produced.

It's not a problem with the animations. When I enter workshop mode, I can see that only one out of six mutfruit plants I have placed are assigned. If I'm not mistaken, I thought settlers assigned to food automatically assign themselves to up to six placed crops. For some reason, this isn't working.

Also since only one plant is assigned, I'm not producing enough food. If I was producing food in surplus, then I wouldn't have posted this discussion in the first place.

I think the default is 6 plants per settler. There's an entry line in one of the ini files where you can tweak those settings...can remember where it is, though.

Just an idea, might not work; the Vault-Tec population management terminal. Pull up all the crops, replant then, use the terminal to assign people to farming.

You are correct. You should get 6 crops (12 plants for everything but Mutfruit trees). You say your pip-boy only shows 1 crop. Sanctuary has a lot of bugs with scripts. Do you use mods? Try traveling away from Sanctuary then coming back. Go down and say hello to Trudy then come back.

Ow, there must be something wrong if that is happening.. You running mods ? Game must be corrupted somehow. I know that sometimes in my game water goes to 0 in a settlement where i have not been for a while but there is enough water production. And then if i go there there seems to be nothing wrong and then the happiness goes up again.

I am running this particular mod actually... it's a mod that increases food production of crops.

Workshop Plus does that for you.

ROFLMAO. You know a really odd issue like that you are more mad at yourself for not asking sooner.

Yeah a mod he is using disabled his autoassign options for settlers. So when he assigns a settler to a crop it only does the 1 plant instead of autoassigned the other 5-11 plants.

He still should have been able to assign mutliple plants manually, surprised nobody suggested that....

False alarm everyone. I just looked at the description for the mod, apparently it's a known issue and it can't be fixed.

Yeah, ditch that mod and go with Workshop Plus/Workshop Framework.

It does exactly what you wanted.

I had that problem suddenly crop up as well. It's related to the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch v.2.0.8.
I downloaded the beta of the 2.09 UF4P patch and it fixed it. Related discussion here;
