Ill try that, im sure about volumetric fog and god rays are cpu intensive but shadows? For what i know they impact the gpu(i should try it aswell) because whenever i low the gpu settings most of the times i lose fps and if i crank them up i gain them(is what happens in other games)
Mess around with settings a bit, find what works for you. Ideally you would just get a new mobo+CPU.
I have no idea what would possess someone to buy a 590 when they are using a phenom processor. You'd be better off going for a 3rd gen ryzen G and using the integrated gpu until you saved up for the 590.
At any rate, your cpu is definitely the bottleneck, but without a mobo change as well, it will remain the bottleneck forever.
As I mentioned reducing volumetrics and god rays. Shadows might help. Should maybe try turning down view distance as well, particularly in the central part of the city, where there is so much going on around with AI.
Dear god yes, lock it at 60. They tied physics to framerate so things start to get screwy above that.
Basically Bethesda have a hard-on for using older versions of the HAVOK engine which has notorious issues with dynamic objects going haywire when the fps goes above a certain limit. (IE: Entering a cell and any non-static object getting thrown all over the room, Characters getting stuck in floors/walls because the prediction is off etc.)
I only recently got a gtx 1660 TI which is kind of overkill for FO4 but worth every dime. My old 570 and then 1050 were underpowered as $%^&.
the 970s will run this game too if you can find one cheap somewhere.
I'd rather bottleneck at gpu than cpu. You can do more for a bottlenecked gpu than you can a cpu.
for the main problem: do NOT let the fps go above 60, simple matter: the fps is taken as timeframe, so when you let it go higher physics effects can go wield and gaemscripts break.
8gb is only sufficient if it's running in dual-channel. Otherwise it's too puny for this game.
It's not worth it to upgrade your entire platform just to satisfy that rx590 pig. Sell it and get a 1050ti and your system will fly.
Well i want to build a brand new system with the rx590 or better in the future in mind, the rx is just the first piece of my puzzle in october ill buy the moba ram cpu and a new case too
You don't need to future-proof anything. You're playing Fallout at 1920x1080? Future-proof for what?
You want future-proof? Then you will want efficiency. Something the rx590 will fail at again. And you might have to deal with "rainbow graphics". That will be fun.
You could sell that thing and get a refurbished 1050ti like I did. It was only $90! You could potentially make money AND make your PC run this game better.
And that's when the real future-proofing starts. Because your PC would be balanced out and you save money while you enjoy this game.
I had to stop myself a couple months ago. I almost pulled the trigger on a shiny new 3700x setup. Then I came to my senses and realized it was unnecessary, since I'm mostly older games at 1920x1080.
Now I'm saving and lurking. I'm going to bite when it's perfect.
