Can't Finish Taking Independence Bug
I have reloaded my game several times and redid this mission over and over and over again I have cleared the courtyard of eggs, mirelurks, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE AND ONTOP OF THE WALLS, and STILL Preston keeps saying "We have to clear the courtyard!" WTF? I have disabled Preston with console and reenabled him as suggested on google searches to no avail. ResetQuest Min02 doesn't work either. I need help, someone please. Im not making a brand new game just for this quest. I have a save game made before i show up with Preston and the gang to sort a plan of attack outside the castle walls. I've tried ALL 3 plans of attack, NONE make the Queen show up.

Really anxious to get this fixed I feel like this is ruining my game for me, I have already sunk in about 50 hours and I don't want to start a new playthrough

It isnt registering no matter how many times I go through and kill all those mirelurks and egg clusters, it never advances and the queen doesnt show up and Preston keeps saying we have to take the courtyard back!

the only thing I would suggest is going back to a previous game and seeif that helps .

You guys do know that there is a wiki that lists most of the known bugs and how to fix them, including a list of all the console commands, right?

The wiki doesn't help my issue. Read my actual post. Maybe someone helpful will come along who has also dealt with this issue and resolved it.

You mean you want someone to spoon feed you the answer?

Use the console command to advance the quest to stage 305(QueenReveal). It's that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ easy.

its called bethesda not fixing its stupid bugs...i just came here cause preston did talk to me about taking back the castle but i said not now...

now he wont even talk about it..and i came here looking for a answer

Solution I was getting Super Frustrated with this Glitch which really wasn't a Glitch at all. I was a Mod I installed which clearly said to not install until after you've finished the Quest. I went to the Diner outside Preston's Stupid Castle then I save. Uninstalled all Castle Mods and began the quest. by the way I did not select the draw them out battle plan. Its overly complicated and it's reported that it can be easily done the wrong way. I chose Guns Blazing went into the caste and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ some Crabs up but good. In no time Stupid Preston is talking about the eggs are hatching. long story short check out your mods maybe one by one untill you find the Devil in the Details

I have always found it better to just go in with a missle launcher (with lots of missiles), shotgun (for when they get to close), and a companion (to help with the little ones) that uses a ranged weapon and take the place before I even get that quest.

That way when it comes up all I have to do is pick the oh I already cleared that choice and just meet them there.

Is it possible to finish "egg clutches" by console?
I tried everything.

I have https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Ghoul_Problem not finished. Kill ghouls - WHERE??? Probably in SupaDupaMark, where I killed them ages ago.
Same story with "kill raiders". WHERE??? Probably Corvega plant. They all dead there for long time.
I tried to finish these quests by console, but it worked in odd way: settlers say "thank you", but quest still on the list and settlement is not owned by me.

as far as I remember I had this same bug... I just searched everywhere and destroyed eggs in the walls outside everywhere...

I do remember that upon killing all the mirelurks I was able to use the workshop and just deleted the area to get to the armory. did the whole thing there and when I exited it worked... But I had problems with Ronnie Shaw later on.

maybe just try attacking the queen right off the get go??

Or fast travel away to sanctuary rest for 3 days (72 hours.) and come back...

Also using explosives liberally will sometimes get eggs that have clipped through the ground.


But other than that I'm not sure... try finishing a "settlement" quest that preston gave you before doing this one...


I hope this works out... I really hate these kinds of bugs.
