so shut up, wiseass.
xx004bc6
you have my permission to feel stupid
I wouldn't even have started this thread in the first place if i hadn't already googled it and tried everything that I found out.
you have my permission to kill yourself for acting like such a little ♥♥♥♥♥ about the whole thing. Nobody needs your negativity around.
for example if loaded as 5th in the list the XX is replaced by 05
also you need to type in the amount which equates to 1.
so in that sense its player.additem 05004bc6 1
if you still cannot get something as simple as this to work then i wont waste more of my time.
you have my permission to feel insulted.
Again, why so negative, bro? I ask a simple question and you come in acting like a massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... your attuidite isn't needed here at all. why don't you just go stick a hot poker in your eye? might be a more productive use of your time.
it shall promptly be disregarded.
and top it off your hex code that you found didn't even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work when I tested it on a different save. lol.
So I'm just gonna disregard you as a troll and block you. Bye-bye.
I asked a friend, and he was way more helpful and informative than Tyrant here. He said the reason why the code that I found on the internet didn't work was because of a vault 88 mod I had, and told me the way to work around it.
Tyrant assumed that I didn't find the code on google and that i didn't know how to use it correctly... but turns out that I did. It just didn't work because of a mod.
Everyone here should learn how not to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ by looking at Tyrant. Please be more polite even if you think the other person is a total idiot... it might end up that the person might have in fact tried litterally everything that you were going to suggest, and had only posted a thread like this because they were all out of opitions to try.
He did that because he assumed you did that in a wrong way due to the previous point that he or anyone in that case could know that you're using a mod that overrides parts of the Vault 88...
How about you accept the bloody fact that he tried to help you and it's just your stupid ass that didn't provide anyone with the necessary details about your game?
God these people... Always blaming others for being wrong despite their own obvious mistakes.
Take a lesson out of that and whenever you ask for help, provide ALL the necessary details and you shall get a much requested support.
Say: "Did you google the problem yet? Google usually has everything." instead of: "Jeez, only if serch engines exisited... haha idiot"
as I pointed out, it pays to be more polite even if you think the other person is a bloody idiot, because you might not know that the other person already did EVERYTHING that you suggested.
Where as my friend tried out the code on his PC, and told me that it worked for him.. and then asked me if I was using any Vault 88 mods.
And then I said, yes. He said that was most likely the problem.
I never brought up the mods here because it didn't occur to me that a mod would actually alter the hex code of a DLC item. I mean, why would it alter the code of a DLC quest item?
My friend was far more polite and far more helpful, and promtly saw the problem that I was having. Should had gone to him in the first place instead of dealing with such rude people on here.
I found in some instances the item reference id is stored in the quests variables a simple sqv "quest id" might list the reference if so simply use the moveto player command on that ID and pick it up.
Your first reply
Uhuh... Yeah...
Whatever you say.
Rule of thumb when asking for help is to describe everything you've done if possible.
So, you go on asking "I need help with X"
And then continue "I googled for a solution and found xyz, but it didn't help. It did y"
Go on from there with "I also tried abc as well as def but all failed" and so on.
If you don't, someone will point you to "Go google it" because they are free to assume you did not do that seeing as you did not specify it.
And trust me, I work in customer help, I meet a lot of people who prefer to start their requests with "It doesn't work" and then I need to ask them what's wrong. If it's a live chat then it's a mild annoyance which I can ignore even if it happens in excess of 30 to 40 times a day. But when it's a request via a support ticket and you know it'll take time, just like asking on forums, that's time wasted because someone thought that "It doesn't work" is enough of a description.
So I don't buy your complaint that he was an ass. Heck, you were one as well and to add to that you could've received a much better help if you didn't halfass your question in the first place.
So next time, feel free to ask people here for help, but be prepared and actualy explain what's up and what have you actualy done before requesting help because people nowadays are so lazy that most of the time "Google it" is actualy a valid reply...
That was exactly what tryant did... and don't you dare deny that.
Had he actually answered more politely, ie, "Did you google it yet?" Then I wouldn't had reacted so negatively.
I would had then told him that I did in fact google it, and showed him the url that he "found" for me and talked about how that code didn't work for me. That I had in fact tried everything.
If you're gonna be rude and curt with me, then I'm going to give you very clipped responses back and not give you the whole info because of how rude you were being to me.
It's only logical.
At any rate, I'm done with this topic. =EGC= Kansasterry here also gave me another reasonable explination for why it didn't work in updating the quest, etc. so I'm gonna mark that as the answer to the topic and be done with it.
