Very long transition load time?
I've been having issues with incredibly long load times when transitioning from an interior to exterior location (basically exiting a building). I get a black screen with only the little green circle in the bottom right and music playing. Loading times are otherwise super quick when loading from the main menu, fast travelling, transitioning from exterior to interior or between interiors and when a lift takes you straight outside without a loading screen.

Does anyone else have this problem or found any solutions?

It's worth noting it wasn't always like this, the problem appears to have been introduced following a patch (installed a long time ago).

Got Mods?

Some lighting mods and other mods that affect interior cells can cause that.

Try going to the game's Settings menu, then Gameplay and disable all of the autosave functions.

Lower Shadow Distance to medium and turn off Godrays.

Mods that add to or change the appearance of the Commonwealth can cause that.

No I don't use mods just the base game. It's kind of annoying as it didn't always behave like this and kills exploring in the bult up areas where there's lots of small unmarked buildings to check out.
Same boat, I just reinstalled the game on a brand new computer, last computer took about 5-6 seconds to load the world from leaving a building, this computer takes about 35-40 seconds, it's insane.

This is a known problem for about a month now. Do some searching and you will find a gazillion threads already for this. Seems to be a video driver problem. Maybe with vsync.

I had the exact same problem, especially when going from inside to outside
Could take 1+ minute...horrible

Read a bit on google, very frequent problem related to the game FPS cap and probably some new Windows update / GPU driver update conflicting with the game.

Downloaded a fix mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10283/

This fix works great for me, transition time is back to some seconds at most

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Just to add

Change the line from the Loadaccelerator.ini included with the fix...

FPSLimitInGame = 0 to FPSLimitInGame = 60 (or whatever you prefer...60 being the default)

You only want FPS unlocked in loading screens, not in game
Unlocked FPS in game can lead to some problems

^ physics based on fps, super high FPS also breaks skyrim (which uses the same engine)

I also encountered this issue in Skyrim. Never found out what caused it. I assumed savegame bloat.

Hi guys,

Just picked this up again, looking to complete. Load/location transition times are taking a ridiculous amount of time on my 5700x/3060ti/64GB/Win 11 build - any ideas?

Thanks.
