Can't pass Molecular Level - signal beam emitter stage
Hi, I've already watched some vids and read some guides on this but nothing seems to answer the problem I have of trying to pass the Molecular Level stage.

One video said I needed 5 medium and 5 small generators hooked up in series all attached to the console from where the cables are attached to the other devices. (Generators not visible in photo but I have them set up as described).

I've done this and it seems to fire up and I go to stand in the centre of the signal beam emitter but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Please advise, thx.

All you need is ONE generator With enough output to power all the devices so if i remember correctly 20 or 30 power tops
Run cable from generator or pole at generator to the main device ( big bastard you stand under)
Then from that device branch off to each device with a separate cable from the main device. BOOM time to teleport

It seems to be a bug of some kind, which others have already discussed elsewhere except there doesn't appear to be an easy fix.

Maybe I've already done what I can here but need to activate another quest to complete this one?

I working with the Railroad ATM.

In the quests it also says I still need to build the reflector platform which doesn't make sense because I already have it built.

Also, in the workshop, under 'Special', I can only build the reflector platform and nothing else.

I think I read somewhere that Desdemona has to come over and talk to me or Tinker Tom, but for some reason she doesn't walk over in spite of her being close by.

Damn this is frustrating! All this time since Fallout 4 was made and they still haven't figured out this bug?

One thing to try, store everything then close the build menu. Reopen and put everything back out. I always found it best to have more juice going to the teleporter than required, so about 40 power. Wire all the generators to a small pole, then run a separate line to each piece of equipment. Never had a single issue with this setup.

Sometimes the game hangs a bit and you just need to rebuild it. Also, after storing everything, talk to Des and Tom real quick to see if they have something to say to you before you rebuild it all. Just to make sure. The game gets a bit odd at times, and they may just be stuck in a waiting state or whatever you want to call it.

You may need to setup everything in a "clear" spot too. Sometimes pathing is odd and piles of leaves and debris may screw up the pathing of the NPCs. Build a quick set of foundations with some stairs or something if nothing else works. See if that alleviates the issue.

OK, I've tried completing any other quests that were ongoing in the hope they might progress this bug but nothing worked!

I'm OFFICIALLY screwed until I can get through this level.

One thing I've noticed with this 'Molecular Level stage' is that the default starting place for me was near Jamaica Plain near where the workshop is. I can't remember now but I think some of the items were already prebuilt when I arrived (the beam emitter and the reflector platform) at the location.

Also, in the workshop mode, under 'SPECIAL', the only thing that appears which I can build is the reflector platform and none of the items like beam emitter, relay dish etc; these appear under 'SPECIAL' in other videos I've seen.

Help would be appreciated as I'd like to complete this game before moving on. Thx.
What quest do you have active (and what is the description)? In your screenshots you have a quest marker on every item of the relay, which to me looks like the "get everything powered" stage of the quest. If you're sure everything has power (you can check by going into workshop mode and looking at all of the pieces, there will be a green or red indicator of how much power it needs), then I'm not sure what to do. Otherwise, try adding a few more generators to your power system, and try linking each item of the relay directly to the series of generators.

If everything is for sure powered, try using the console to complete that stage of the quest (save first before messing with it obviously). I haven't had much luck with completing quests that way, but it might do something.

I checked the reflector platform, which had a red colour for the power and so I set up more generators to connect to the console. Now the power symbol is green for the stabiliser platform. Nonetheless, it still doesn't work and I can't complete. I only have green power for all the devices.

They all have to connect together.
30 power
2 large power poles with the tranformers on them.
20 power to one of the power poles then connect to the Beam Transmitter and it should power up.
connect the other power pole to 10 power and the satlaite dish and console.
then connect the second power pole to the Beam transmitter and the rest will power up, good to go after you talk to whoever is at the console to transmit you up.

OK, I've tried again!

There are 6 medium generators and it seems there's enough power going to the emitter.

When I go to stand on the platform, Desdemona does NOT come over...

So what could possibly be the problem?

This is REALLY frustrating as I can't continue without getting through this quest.

I don't know what else I can communicate to explain the problem.

Check to make sure none of the settlers there are trying to talk to you. Sometimes this can bug out advancing quests until you speak to them. Otherwise... load a save before you started building. I can't see anything that would cause this issue.

I had issues with this too once, i dont know if you got the same problem.
The solution i found was that the thing going over the platform did not snap correct to the platform.
Because the platform when places falls down into the ground a bit.

If this is the same problem for you then the fix that worked for me was to place a wood floor before placing the platform then remove the floor and try adding the thing that goes on top of to snap it.

Very easy to see by your image that Everything is Not connected Together.
Well not easy bc you have wires running everywhere. Your console has power straight from the generator, remove that wire and it will power down. In fact all you have to do is connect everything to two power poles then connect the two poles together.

I've tried talking to both of them but they don't say anything to continue the quest.

One curious thing is that when I look at other videos/posts on this nobody else seems to be in the same location as me - near Jamaica Plain/Mercer Safe house. I don't know if that's relevant?

Also, I seem to remember some of the items required for the beam signal emitter to work were already in place before I started the quest?

Also, under 'Special' in the workshop menu I'm not able to build anything except for the platform? So I can't buidl a 2nd relay dish like many have suggested I need to do.
Mringasa Dec 28, 2017 @ 2:17pm
Anytime you do the MQ for the Railroad, you build the teleporter at Mercer Safehouse, wherever that is located.

If you are only able to build the platform, then just build that. Put everything else away. Then talk to Tom. Then build 1 piece at a time. The top piece probably didn't snap as well, as was stated before. It can be a pain in the ass to get it to snap in certain places. If it doesn't snap to the platform, it won't work properly.

Also, setup a single power pole. Run your generators to that, then run wires to the rest of the devices. They all have to be on the same circuit to work properly. By using one pole as the source for the power, you can avoid any hassle with "Is it hooked up correctly".
