Expect to hear the words "Obsidian" and "roleplaying" a lot.
I Miss the "SKILL" System
I Miss the Old "PERKs" Perk Chart Sucks Balls.
I Miss being able to use Grenades in VATs, was a lot of LOL in Fallout 3/NV
I Miss Proper Diologue, talking with people on Fallout 4 is kind of boring. As most people say, it's YES YES YES YES answers regardless which you chose most of the time.
I Miss the "Quest" there is no if and or buts, Quest were better in NV, I would say even in Fallout 3 than Fallout 4.
I Miss the "Weapons" oh god for bid, do I miss the weapons. Fallout NV the fire arms, and melee weapons were leagues more awesome than what is seen in Fallout 4.
I Miss the Weapon Customization. Fallout 4 goes over board, to a point that it was interesting at first, but then I realize having 9+ of the same reciever model that doesn't even change what the gun looks like, isn't customization, just leveling a gun up, it sucks. NV's customization was to the point, and practical, and I was always excited when I found a customization for a specific gun I liked, which doesn't happen in Fallout 4, that excitement doesn't exist.
I could go on and on.
What I love about Fallout 4..... gameplay, character designs. some of the clothing/armor is nice. I do like that you do not need to download modded character models anymore, it isn't necessary in Fallout 4 when compared to Fallout 3/NV/Skyrim. But all that stuff I listed above, easily makes me think Fallout 3 and NV are nicer games to play.
That being said, I got a lot of hours out of Fallout 4. But I would say half to 2/3s of it is settlement building. So..... ya... I think I actually have more gameplay hours out of Skyrim, and Fallout NV.
I rest my case.

Not to mention people say it's a "superior RPG" despite your character's entire history and backstory being handed to you on a plate
That's how it always is with Bethesda publishes and releases - The last game released is always the "best" and the newest is always the "worst" until the next game is released, and the roles jump up
I also felt like much of New Vegas was just a sprawling, empty wasteland filled with inaccessible houses. FO4 and FO3 generate a different atmosphere where I want to dive into the ruins and crawl through the wastes because there's always something to find.
Yeah New Vegas nailed the shades of grey faction warfare in terms of which faction is the most morally justifiable to support, but so did Fallout 4 in my opinion. One can make a compelling case for supporting the Brotherhood of Steel, Minutemen and Institute.
I do miss NV's crafting and ammunition system as well as its diversity of weapons, and as an avid energy weapons enthusiast it gave us much in the way of support that we hadn't really seen much of before.
yeah i only played the legion when i was intentionally making an evil character, and if i wanted a character to be good they'd always end up with NCR because House/Independent (Basically the same thing) was just the greedy option, whereas you can change your point of view to make any faction in Fo4 "good guys" or "bad guys" depending on what kind of thought pattern your character would have. Unlike previous titles, you see a LOT of arguments as to who's truly the good guy in 4, which is what makes its factions that much better.
However, it's not a better piece of fictional art by every objective measurement.
If you prefer your games to tell a story, you'll like New Vegas more, I prefer my games to hold my attention, let me interact with them in interesting and often unintentional ways and be fun.
Fallout 4, like The Elder Scrolls games (Particularly though Morrowind) isn't so much a work of creative art as it is a compilation of interacting systems the player can manipulate. In all sense of the word "Game" it qualifies as a much better illustration of the medium than things like Witcher 3 and New Vegas (Particularly the Former) but normies like Television and movies, so of course Normies like games that feel like those.
Other than that, FO4 was better in every other conceivable way, in my opinion. Gameplay, companions, atmosphere, etc. Don't get me wrong, though, I think FO4 had some really good DLCs, but only Far Harbor compares to any of the DLCs from New Vegas.
All in all, both really good games. I enjoyed FO4 a hell of a lot more, but I have to acknowledge that New Vegas was obviously a very good game as well, considering how many people love it.
Except, of course, those people who didn't.
And FNV and FO4 are different games. FNV is an awesome cRPG - FO4 is an OK open-world shooter ♥♥♥♥-around game. Different games, different play experiences. So measuring time spent is apples-to-oranges. Its like saying WoW is the bestest game ever because people spent so much time playing it.
