Please help.
Ooookay, I'm at the end of my rope. Recently I had a long playthrough with sixty-plus levels under my belt just go sideways. It started with an occasional crash at doors leading to or from interior cells, then it progressed to just randomly dumping me to the desktop during play (in the middle of a fire fight or just walking around, makes no difference). After a while it started dumping me out to the desktop during loads for fast travel. Now every time I exit power armor the game crashes. It plays fine right up to the second I need to get out of my PA. I've tried verifying the cache, I've tried disabling recent mods, and disabling all mods, and even loading up in pure vanilla. I've messed with the shadows and the godrays and nothing seems to work. I made sure my video drivers are up to date after updating windows. I don't want to scrap a game with forty-some hours invested unless it's can't be salvaged. Is there anything else I might do?

[Edit] I loaded up just now and fast traveled away from the spot where I last tried to get out of PA, I was able to enter and exit just fine. It seems I can only exit my power armor when not in Nuka World.

Well, before we get that far, how about you list your LOOT'ed load order.
ronr42 Dec 13, 2017 @ 7:02am
Last resort first; If all else fails you will have to reinstall the game. Uninstall All mods then the game. After that go to the game folder in C;/Program Files[x86]/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout 4 and delete anything remaining in the game folder. Next, go to Documents/My Games/Fallout 4 and delete the Fallout4.ini and the Fallout4Prefs.ini. Now reinstall the game.{When you uninstall mods, some mods files are not removed from the game and this is the only sure way to get back to vanilla}

PA CTD; Sounds like you have somekind of a mod that affects animations. If so uninstall it

For CTD in a fight, turn off Weapon Debris.

For CTD or endless load screens when Fast traveling or going through load doors; Go to the game's Settings menu, then Gameplay and disable all of the autosave functions.

In addition; Sometimes some lighting mods will cause CTD or loading issues when going to or from an interior cell. Try disabling or uninstalling any you have.

If you have Any mods that alter the appearance of the Commonwealth, try uninstalling them.

After uninstalling mods it is always best to go to My Games/Fallout 4 and delete those two ini's I mentioned above. Then verify the integrity of the game fills and launch the game from your Steam library. That will create new Vanilla ini's and will fix many but not all mod related issues.

"Messed with Shadows and Godrays". Lower Shadow Distance to medium or low and turn off Godrays.

Edit; If you have the mod Functional Displays, uninstall it. For some players the collectible model cars and robots portion of the mod has been known to cause random CTD when just walking around in the Commonwealth.

Thanks for all the quick responses guys. Also @ronr42 I did exactly that (medium shadows, no godrays) and it hasn't made a difference. I'll turn the weapon debris back off and see if that makes it a lil more stable. As for nuking everything to a clean install... Ugh hopefully someone can point out a fix before it comes to that, but as it stands my game is unplayable.

I'd also like to stress that these mods were playing nicely together up until recently. It's only been since late november that problems have been cropping up.
ronr42 Dec 13, 2017 @ 10:17am
Just got back and will take a look at your mods. Not that I will see anything new, but I'll look.

First though, Hope you don't have to reinstall. Snap and Build has been removed from nexus. You could try and move or copy it to a temp folder if you do have to reinstall. I'm not sure how you go about doing that.
ronr42 Dec 13, 2017 @ 10:26am
Are you sure that is your load order from first/top to last/bottom??? If it is you need to move the DLC up!

Like this;

Fallout4.esm 00
DLCRobot.esm 01 [Automatron]
DLCworkshop01.esm 02 [Wasteland Workshop]
DLCCoast.esm 03 [Far Harbor]
DLCworkshop2.esm 04 [Contraptions]
DLCworkshop3.esm 05 [Vault-Tec workshop]
DLCNukaWorld.esm 06

The Unofficial patch goes right under the DLC.

Did you try uninstalling Functional Display's?

Don't know what that Quick Exit and Enter to Stand is but, could it be causing you PA CTD?

That's all I see or know about that might help.

OH, disable those two NON SKE plugins for Homemaker passive power and Institute objects. You should not have them enabled once you have the SKE versions.

I'll make the above changes and see how that pans out. Thanks again.
Mordrim24 Dec 13, 2017 @ 9:48pm
Okay, so I made the above changes... Apparently the list I posted, copied right from LOOT was not the order they are being placed in by LOOT itself. I made sure everything was in the spcified order, uninstalled Functional Displays, disabled the non-SKE patches for the Homemaker mod, and loaded up. First try to get out of Power Armor in Nuka World, and it dumped me again. This is more than a little infuriating.
Mordrim24 Dec 13, 2017 @ 10:22pm
I've isolated the problem to Nuka World itself, I can get in and out of PA free and clear anywhere else but not in Nuka World. None of my characters can travel there on foot either, making this unfortunately unplayable. All these mods were playing nice together until Bethesda started their damn Creation Club updates, it's all gone steadily sideways from there. I have two other characters made levelled in the sixties, and they never had this issue. I completed Nuka World fine with each one. I just don't know what the hell to do and this is making me want to quit Fallout for good.
danconnors Dec 13, 2017 @ 11:39pm
Check the percentage full your drive is that has the game installed. If it's above 90% you need to run a disk optimiser on it. Also try to unload some of your older games to a conventional hard disk. That fixed the problem I had with a 95% full SSD on my old computer.
Mordrim24 Dec 14, 2017 @ 9:12am
The SSD they're saved on it not even halfway full, but thanks for the suggestion, anything is worth a try. I just now tried reinstalling Nuka World to see if that would catch the problem, and sadly no dice. None of my characters can travel to Nuka World on foot anymore. Bethesda spaghetti code is killing me here and unfortunately I don't know enough (read: damn near anything) about coding to fix it.
MageThis Dec 14, 2017 @ 9:27am
Have you tried deselecting Nuka-World..launch game, make new save in interior cell. Exit game. Re-enable Nuka-World, load new save.

Worked for me when DLC was first available.
Mordrim24 Dec 20, 2017 @ 6:33am
Okay, so it's all been for nothing. I can't figure out what's interfering with the base game, so I have reluctantly put aside three playthroughs with countless hours sunk into them and nuked my entire mod list. I have deleted everything I can think of to make it pristine and begun a new install. Wish me luck boys.
